Anyone know if CCW is permitted if you go to a bar or a place that does not serve food only alcoholic beverages. It was not mentioned in my training and when I google it, I see forum posts stating it is a common myth to believe it is forbidden in California when it is technically allowed. The posts were from years ago.

I know if you are carrying then you are not allowed to have any alcohol. However, I am curious if allowed to carry and remain sober.

I may be rusty but if I remember right, it's not a law, but it is basically one of the terms the county sheriff can have as a condition for issuing a permit. So if you are caught carrying in a bar but were not drinking, you won't be charged with any crime, but they can choose to revoke your license.

I may be wrong though and maybe it is a law too. Regardless, don't carry into bars.

Question fellas:

My CCW instructor was vague about ccw'ing in a car. He said a locked container permanently affixed to the vehicle with the gun unloaded, and the clips in a separate location. He suggested that you keep 2 clips in the side drivers door pocket and a cabled lock box under your seat for the gun.

I thought that was the law like if I'm going to the gun range, but with an approved ccw license I could leave my gun in my waist holster under my belt under my shirt concealed while driving?

So every time I get in the car unload my pistol and put it in the lockbox and every time I before I get out of my car reload my pistol and put it in my concealed holster?

Please share your thoughts?

I'm not normally a fan of disparaging people, but in this case, I'm going to make an exception. Lockdown is right. Nobody should take a class from this guy.

What Lockdown is saying is...when talking about a weapon on your permit it is perfectly fine to have it loaded on your person with or without any sort of container while you are driving. Destination does not matter. The only requirement I know of is that it be concealed. With any gun not on your permit (same as without a permit altogether), the gun must be in a locked container and may not have a round in the chamber or cylinder or have loaded mag in the gun. There is no requirement to have loaded mags separate as long as they are not inserted in the gun.
