I've been reading about firearms check. is that something i can do before i get an interview set. My check was cashed on 6/3 following an app delivered to the Lakewood Station on 5/30. Can i do livescan ahead of time or do i need to wait for interview. want to do as much as possible now. thanks for the info

You can, but it takes 3 days to clear.

So might as well wait.

In the past it took as long as six weeks to clear.

To all - looking for additional feedback on training providers.

I got bored and created this Excel spreadsheet of all the training providers from the LASD list. I added the cost, class duration, and where the training was held using the provider links from the LASD list.

Hope it helps other to decide who to take the training with.

I haven't yet. Trying to figure out who/where I should take it with, while I'm waiting for the the instruction to do so. Livescan was completed on 6/19 and sent it to my deputy that same day. I have a few in mind but want to avoid multi day classes that are far from the West L.A. Hoping more people post about their training experiences.

I have a prior record at the age of 17.. It was petty theft and yes I was young and stupid... I was given my live scan opportunity despite that .... Although I'm still waiting for an answer I'd say just be truthful and go for it..Now I have to say battery is related to violence and that is something that they take note of.. I'm sure you will have a chance to explain yourself so you never know.. If you feel that your a good human being and that you do have control over your reactions than you must keep going forward.. We need more good people to have the right to protect themselves and loved ones from potential harm.

Thanks to Paladin for reviewing my GC statement, and to VinhTran1 for the email.

Picked up my CCW permit today, noticed that there is a stack of approval letters so probably minimum of about 10 people picked up theirs today.

Hopefully by sharing my timeline, it will give other applicants a gauge on how things are moving along:

- FBI completed 3/30/21
- Firearms completed 5/1/21
Firearms trainingCCW issued
