Can't recommend him enough to people. So down to earth and really cares about people empowering themselves not just with firearms skills but also life saving trauma medical skills, which is just as important for folks to know. You could save a life, whether it's a violent encounter, or an everyday occurrence like a car accident.

Yeah I used Ron with Medic Up as well. I think knowing some critical first aid helps with having a defender mindset. Getting the perspective of an actual LASD Deputy was a nice bonus.

Of course Ron's Trauma course fills up as you guys talk about him on this thread.

I guess I'm waiting until next month.

Good luck to everyone who sent in apps first and second week of April!

I was very unimpressed with the Firing Line's course, which I took for my renewal. Frankly I'm surprised it would pass muster from a CCW unit. Since we have to get training, one might as well try to get a useful, informative course and get something out of it. And I say this as an attorney.

For my initial course, I went to https://www.californiagunpermit.com. Taught by a former FBI agent. It was done in one day, and Hansen also offers a very easy opportunity to get your Arizona and Utah CCW's, which cover most of the country.

I only mentioned Firing Line because its the cheapest option. I took a 16 hour course through TRB and my wife and I are signing up for more adv. CCW courses with their team

Got the following response when I emailed LASD CCW unit regarding my application.

"Yes your application has been received. You will be contacted when your file has been assigned to an investigator."

At least they claim to have my application (?). The wait for the call/letter continues...

                            My took 4 weeks exactly.

A few guys that were ahead of me (March time frame) took about 5 weeks.

Relax they're working on the first week of April applications. From the looks of it, it takes about two weeks to go through one week of applications.

So the rest of this short week will be dedicated on the second half of applications received April 1-8
