Back in the early '90s, as a new LEO, I was issued a Beretta 92FS and I carried it for the duty and CCW for many years until the Dept authorized Glocks. I carried various sizes and caliber handguns depends on the situation and dress code. Now out of all my collection of guns, my best choices are Glock 43x, Glock 19, SA EMP 3 inch, and Staccato P5. So give yourself all the available options, nothing to lose at the end.

So the reason why I was asking about amending the permit to change the firearms listed is because I have my 19 and 23 in it and will be finally getting a couple of firearms that are more concealable. I have my j frame on it too. I kinda don’t wNt to wait 2 years but I also don’t want to have to pay like $300+ to change the firearms. I’m not opposed to qualifying again but I don’t want to have to pay for another live scan especially I have my COE and ffl03 and don’t want to have to submit a whole new application. I think if they made it easier change the firearms on the permit it would help a lot if people who could only get 1 firearm in the timeframe for the permit since some firearms that are good to conceal carry can be hard to find. I know 3 people who could only list 1 firearm for this exact reason. Personally it would be nice to have more than 3 listed on a permit.

I doubt you’d have to do a live scan twice, especially for a modification.

In OC, it’s filling out the application and re-qualifying with the new handguns and paying a few for a new card.

Yeah man LASD is new to giving out CCW permits. They have more issues going on. I'm sure they aren't trying to restrict the number of firearms for you to carry, they just haven't had the resources to figure out a way to do add a gun like oc.

Give them time, it'll probably look like OCs process once they get more resources into the program

You chose wisely. When I could only have 3, my picks were my EDC which is a very small .45, a pocket 380 (something to just slip into a jacket or pants pocket while taking out the trash or when you can't wear a holster), and a double stack .45 for situations judged more dangerous.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

How about if you have a jam that you cannot clear at the range? Also, if your primary EDC is not working properly or is in the shop, or if God forbid, you actually have to use it, that weapon will be confiscated for evidence and what will you carry in the meantime. There is no downside to filling your permit with all concealable weapons you own.
Well one downside is you'll need to qualify each weapon, including when you renew. Many ranges make you buy their ammo and targets for such purposes, which can really add up the costs these days. I used to have 10 guns on my permit. Now I have 2. Now, before you call me lazy, I handload and can shoot as many practice rounds as I want for marginal cost, so I'd say I shoot more often than most CCW'ers do. But paying for range ammo and targets (and range time for those without memberships) to qualify 8 more guns I'll likely never carry is a hassle and expense I have forgone these days.

                    Does LASD allow off-roster guns?

I'm in the process of buying a new compact to hopefully carry if approved. I am going in tomorrow to do paperwork etc and start the 10 day jail. I am assuming I can still list it on the application given it will be more than 10 days until they even get to my application, correct?
