Hello everybody, I'm new here and trying to navigate my way to get a CCW.
I live in eagle Rock, that is Los Angeles, so according to what I read at the LASD and here in the forum, I'm supposed to apply with LAPD, get rejected and then apply with LASD.
HERE IS THE NEW BIT:
Today I called the LAPD at the phone number that they provide for the CCW application, I told that I was calling in regard of the CCW application and the detective who was on the phone told me: "You know that you are going to be rejected don't you?!?!" I told him that I was aware of the fact and he interrupted me and said " I know you need the rejection letter because you want to apply with LASD.... You no longer need to apply with us first, you can directly apply with LASD".

I was wondering if any of you is aware of any change in the agreement between LAPD and LASD.

This has been the case for awhile now. You can apply directly with LASD. Read some of the past post. Plenty of good information. Good luck.

Had my interview a few days ago. Super chill, just went over my application & asked me basic questions like im not suicidal, etc. stuff in that nature. Told me to go ahead with my live scan, got that done the same day. He said once the live scan clears they would email me to do training. I asked if I can get that done sooner he said yes but if for some reason your live scan does not clear & you get rejected we dont want people to complain. There is no reason why my live scan wouldn't clear so I am going to do the training a head of time.

My interview was about 20 mins. But me and the deputy shot the **** for a bit and the interview went just over an hour.

When was your application accepted? Asking to see what the timeline is for all the guys who sent in applications in March.

Emailed my training certificate and shooting proficiency on Sunday and received email from CCW unit that they received it and will complete my profile and reach out when ready to pickup.

How long does this usually take?

From the older posts, it seemed some people were able to pickup within a couple of days.

Depends if your livescan is cleared too.

So, instead of 3 interviews in that hour the deputy was only able to do one.

No wonder the process takes so long.... SMH

Yup, it was cleared and I was told to proceed with training, which I completed on Sunday and emailed the training info they needed.

mine only took about 15 minutes
