Picking up my CCW Permit later today!

Just got my permit! So final date range: April 12 to September 29.

Just picked up my CCW today!

Seaweeddude - keep after this, don't give up. Here's three LA guys in one day, before 2020 I don't think LACO issued 3 a year.

Who else is a pure LG April guy here? I may be one of the very few if only one here (someone prove me wrong.)

One thing I will say that is unique to seaweed is a follow up call a month after the interview to re-confirm GC. I don't remember reading that as a common follow up. The follow up's I consistently read were to provide specific or more evidence. That could be a pre-indicator that the GC is on the fence and ultimately a coin toss when it gets to the Lieutenant. Pure speculation.

And you guys who have yellow or red - nothing has changed for you. If you are LG, you are welcome to **** bricks next to me.

I believe my follow-up call was a result of my interviewer no longer being assigned to the CCW unit. The follow up call was from a different deputy than the one who interviewed me, and from the direction of the call it seemed as though my application had been reassigned to her with little-to-no context as to the information I relayed in my initial interview.

If anyone else can chime in if they had a change in interviewing deputy and them calling to re-confirm that would some great info.

Did that deputy say she was a new deputy and taking over? I only ask because as I understand it, there are three levels to this. Your interviewing deputy, another level of deputies and then the big boss. I am curious if your app was still in stage one (which was a month prior?) or if it was actually in the second stage.

Looking through the posts, I will likely need an evaluation from my employer. I have never had an evaluation, so I thought I would ask for one in my monthly meeting with my boss. He just said we don't do evaluations, we will discuss any issues with you, and if you don't fix it, you will beating the pavement looking for a better fit for you. I said I will likely need one for my CCW, he said I need to move, he doesn't understand how getting one is so difficult. He live in Texas, where most of my peers are. They have no concept of what we have to do.

We don't do evaluations either. The owner of my company wrote a letter of good standing for me. that was fine with the deputy.

Thanks everyone! Glad to be on the other side of this finally. I'm grateful, but also hope that SCOTUS changes things so that any law-abiding citizen can get a permit. If they want to force us to jump through the hoop of the training class fine, I can live with that, but if we do that and the livescan clears, they should have to issue. This shouldn't be a "privilege", as my approval letter calls it. It is a right that should only be able to be lost via due process.

Still, I appreciate the Sheriff for at least improving things substantially from where we were a year ago.

Processed 1522, 265 in the hopper. Opened an office in Santa Clarita and have doubled the size of the CCW unit. Next step is to move it all online to streamline the process.

Now I'm going back to shoulder holster shopping.
