So, I got a call today. Just not one that I was expecting and probably the reason my process has taken so long.

A deputy called stating she knew I had already interviewed with another deputy, but just wanted to clarify why I put that I wasn’t arrested in 2010, but told the deputy in the interview. I told her I misunderstood as I normally put that on job applications as an expunged record doesn’t come up for employers. She responded with, “Well, this isn’t a job interview”.

Long story short, don’t hide anything at all, even if you have an expunged or sealed record. I strongly feel this bit me in the butt as I can feel a denial letter coming soon just by the way the deputy was speaking.

I’ll update as it comes, but it’s not looking good.

              *EDIT*
Stepped outside for a breather and jumped back on my computer. Came back to an email to go get training! So, still disclose everything and be as truthful as possible. Updated timeline as follows:
              GC Color - Yellow
              4/9 - App mailed
              4/15 - Check cashed
              5/6 - Interview
              6/2 - CA/FBI Livescan Complete
              6/14 - Firearms Livescan Complete
              8/10 - Call to verify app/interview questions
              8/10 - Training email received

I was going to say OOF size XL but congrats. I disclosed everything I could think of including a small accident car accident where the 5-0 was not called. Deputy asked me questions about an arrest 13 years ago but did not tell me if it would hurt my chances so I'm assuming since it's been so long he didn't care?

Either way, I'll sit here sad with No.11, Spartan, threegs, Vaderz and Portal

Thank you sir. It was just second nature as I've applied to many jobs since 2010.

Since my stressful adventure is coming to an end, I will send you good juju.

Seems like from Livescan complete clearance to training call/email is like 1.5-2 months from the recent people. This would push me into September if that's the case. Better late than never ha

Thrilled for you! That's great news. I'm glad the deputy was reasonable and considered it an honest mistake.

I've always felt that "expunged" should mean expunged*. I hate this in-between garbage government often does, where its "expunged" but not really. They'll still use it against you when they want to. Either expunge it for real, or don't.

                          *Merriam Webster definition:

1: to strike out, obliterate, or mark for deletion
2: to efface completely : DESTROY
3: to eliminate from one's consciousness

That doesn't really leave much gray area. They shouldn't even be able to see that a record was there that was expunged.

Ya same. Though a handful of others who interviewed around the same time we did got their pickup calls already, so who knows. It's probably just the assigned deputy lottery.

Thank you! And I absolutely agree. I haven't disclosed those expunged charges in like 10 years and never caused me issues. I hope others that are going to apply read this part and just be 100% open.
