My deputy handed me the live scan form. I was asked "Have you done your training?" I said "No, I have not." he handed me a list of trainers to choose from and said I I want the quick and cheap one go to X.

I opted to use MedicUp which is much more detailed and added the stop the bleed course.

This is surprising to me. Isn't the norm for people to complete their livescan and then wait for the go ahead to complete training or your denial letter? I am sure the approved training isn't far from what LASD has on their site.

For those of you who got an email to proceed with LiveScan but did it ahead of time, did you go get another one?

Also, I typically respond to/acknowledge emails, do you think it’s appropriate to respond to these types of emails with an acknowledgment/thank you, despite the “word on the street” that they don’t want to be bothered with them?

My interviewing deputy basically said so (not sure if it was meant in general or for me personally)

I know we would need to back our GC statements with evidence. What color tier guideline should I follow? From what is shown on the resource thread here its Light green which is Recreational risk. Thanks again!
For some reason people don’t get that a county’s color is the weakest GC it will accept. IOW a color subsumes all the colors beneath it: a Yellow GC county accepts Yellow, Light Red and Dark Red GCs. The lower the color (on the map’s index), the stronger the GC. IOW if you’ve got a restraining order out against some nut case threatening to kill you, use that not “hiking in the wilderness…“

Negative. I did my interview and was told to proceed with live scan. I was confident my live scan would come back clean and took training before I was told. I submitted my training paperwork to the CCW unit the same day my live scan all cleared.

No one at LASD said anything and it shaved 1 month off my process
