Has anyone successfully asked for an update on last step without getting yelled at?

At the end of this week it will be 8 weeks of waiting for pickup call after training docs received. I am always worried they lost my file but also don't want to piss them off.

How many weeks would you give it before trying to reach out to them?

It took ten weeks for me to get the call. That included the sheriff change which probably added to the delay. I would wait at least ten weeks before contacting.

I think you would need to re-qualify w/ said 'replacement'. Which means taking the training course again or having your instructor amend your training certificate. I would follow the others' recommendations and call in to verify this.

Wow! Was the first appointment for pickup really a full month out or did you have schedule conflicts?

Nah, no scheduling conflicts. This was their soonest. Trust me, I'd have taken next day if it was possible.

I am a little over 9 weeks now waiting for the pickup call, I will post when I get the call & the soonest pickup date they give me

IMHO, I wouldn't email them for an update. It likely just irritates them. I doubt they are like hey, this guy keeps asking for an update, let's move him to the front of the list.

You need to qualify with the G19, the instructor needs to put all 3 guns on the cert, when you go to pick up they will ask you to confirm the 3 guns on the permit, you can give them the new certification with the G19 added and they should add to the permit, until they print it off you can amend, after you have to wait until renewal.

The short answer is NO, for many reasons.

1. The permit is a credit card that is pre-printed... there is zero chance of any changes being made when you pick up.
2. They have to check AFS to confirm that the pistol you are using is registered to you. Zero chance of that happening at pick up.
3. There is undoubtedly a supervisor that has to review the whole package and approve before the call for pickup is made.

I would not be surprised if they said that changes are no longer possible this late in the game. If they did, you would definitely have to start the review and approve process over again, where you get put into a queue for someone to check AFS for the gun change, then review and approve the whole package, then queue for a call for pickup again. So, another 2 months from when you submit your new pistol training.

Again, I doubt even that is possible. They do not seem interested in deviating from the already creaky and overloaded process they have. Hopefully this will be cleared up by the time the roster is struck down, for the avalanche of people wanting to add modern pistols to their licenses.

The card is not pre printed. They take your picture the day of pickup and print the card then. They have a card printer in the office.

I have a buddy who did just that and yes if you retake the training to change one of your firearms your pickup day will be delayed. Up to you whether the delay is worth it.

I would schedule the next available appointment that works for you. I did my training a month after the ptt email. And picked up 4 weeks after that.

If it was the CCW unit for pickup you are going to have to wait for next week's call. Everything I've read is that it won't do much if you call them

I called a few weeks back to ask some questions and was told they were working on April/May 2022. I would guess your call should be coming soon but at this point we all know how this works, no rhyme or reason.
