Complete everything and sign the application. That's the specific instruction on the LASD website. This includes section 7. Per LASD's website:

The applicant will thoroughly Complete Sections 1-8,INCLUDING SECTION 7 and Sign Pages 3, 8, and 11, of the Department of Justice Standard Application.

So again we have an indication that LASD may issue to employees, not just business owners, who face risks due to their vulnerability on the job (isolated, wilderness areas, little or no cell phone coverage, long LE response times), or because valuables they transport (merchandise, equipment or cash deposits) for store, shop, franchise, convenience store, gas station or property management business owners. These employee GCs all fall under Yellow.

In LA Co literally tens of thousands of people could qualify under a Yellow GC standard (which umbrellas Light Red and Dark Red). But we need more people with only Yellow GCs to apply and let us know how it goes to be sure. (Unless LASD gets more explicit and detailed re GC on their website by saying employees as well as owners may qualify or using examples of employees who would qualify.)

This backs up my extreme skepticism that recreational related risks would be a nogo for issue and that is what I centered my GC around.

IIRC we changed LA Co to Light Green on April 4th. I assume several people submitted Light Green apps that week. That should give LASD 6 weeks to review app, call them in for interview and decide regarding LiveScan (and thus GC).

By July 1st, when AV may further liberalize GC due to budget cuts, we should definitely know.

I am currently in between jobs due to covid, should I wait until my next one to apply, or am I overthinking it? Is this something I need to worry about getting done as soon as possible?

Are you worried about the money aspect of it?

It's $30 to apply
$120 for live scan
$300 ish for a class?
And a $120 for a license.

Assuming you have a firearm, holster and ammo.
