I literally just spoke to Shane, called his phone and he answered. I told him about what is being discussed here on Cal guns and he said he's only waiting on two or three people to make their final payment before he issues the cert. Yes, between covid and taking a few days off for Christmas, he is behind but that's no excuse for not communicating.

He is leaving Saturday morning to go out of town for a few days so try and get a hold of him as quickly as possible

I decided to call again and he answered! He said he was out of the office. Yes, communication is key. He emailed my cert this morning. Thanks all!

Check back frequently. Usually you can improve it significantly.

L84CABO has good advice, I might add, check 3-10x per day... we improved our apt date by 6 months

Yes. I know it's scary, but you will have an opportunity to confirm. Haha

I was reading about the application process in San Diego county. There it mentioned 3 types of licenses; standard 2 year, judicial 3 year, reserve 4 year. Anyone knows the difference other than the fees. Tried but couldn't find any information.

                    Thanks in advance.

                    Nevermind. Found the info. Thanks.

Standard is civilian, Judicial is for judges, and Reserve is for reserve LEO.

Base on a friend who just received his permit, looks like San Diego sheriff is taking about 3 weeks from submitting your range certificate to having permit in hand

I think they are also trying to somewhat time it for renewals to be, somewhat, close to your renewal date. I had all my stuff in way early this last go round and they waited until two weeks before my expiration to approve me. The permit came about a week later but was dated for the week prior when they approved it. This means I essentially paid my hard earned money for two weeks worth of a CCW permit that I will never get to use.

And this may seem like a small thing but given the expense and that the permits are only good for two stinking years, I want the full amount of time that I pay for! I don't understand why they can't simply renew your permit in accordance with your current expiration date. I'm sure it's because of some dumb legal reason but it ain't right!

Thats 2.66 per 1,000 residents for San Diego County….
Assuming current trends continue, when can we expect SDSO to pass 10,000? 20,000? To become #1 county in number of CCWs?

It all depends on the new sheriff. Her son says she's pro 2A, but the proof is in the pudding.

It's going in the right direction. But it will take decades at this rate to catch up to where it should be unless they start approving these things like the should...

                                File application
                                Pass background check
                                Pay Fees
                                Pass class
                                Approved.

Their portion of the process should take about 10 days. Not three months.

And never forget that CCW permits are unconstitutional to begin with.
