My son and I along with a friend just finished up with DTF, Shane is a decent guy however.... yes he does not respond to texts, vmails and is very slow to respond to email. Took me 5 days to get a call back when he didn't deliver my AZ cert along with a request to update my CA cert.
Now to be fair, he has been down very hard with covid, didn't bounce back very well apparently.
My recommendation is to not give up on him but do keep after him
Might also try reaching out to Morgan at DTF, morgan@defensivetacticsandfirearms.com
BTW, every phone option within DTF goes to Shane's vmail
And lastly, their hybrid course (self paced, online) ends 12/31/22 per the SD Sheriff, they must go back to 8 hours in person. If you have a class signed up in Jan... per Shane it won't by hybrid. They haven't updated their website yet to reflect the change.Comment

This guys name is Shane from Defensive Tactics and Firearms. I even contacted a person that used to be an instructor there, and said he would look into it. It’s been a day and still haven’t heard anything. He said he might be busy since he’s the only one that issues the certificate’s. But still, give a courtesy text or email stating that you are backed up and working on it. Not leaving someone high and dry without any feedback.
I’m sure someone here has taken their course. I’ve heard good things about them that’s why I took it. Also, they provided the online 8 hour course, I guess that’s what happens when I try to get away from sitting in a class for 8 hours.
I’ll be taking a new class with Peter. $350 for a CCW certificate smh
*** oops someone beat met to the response. This is a bummer to hear. I've taken a number of NRA courses with them over the years dealing with both Shane and Morgan. I did my 2020 CCW renewal with them as they were the only ones I could find that were doing "hybrid" online coursework and in person range qualification.
Maybe reach out to Morgan to see if he knows what's up with Shane.Stop calling them Lawmakers. It only encourages them.Comment

Interesting, didn't know that as he and I exchanged emails early Dec as I was trying to get signed up and to better understand the AZ cert process.
I have a new firearm to Qual with to get added to my original cert from Shane so I guess I'm stuck unless I want to go through a permit mod after the fact. If he doesn't respond then I may not have a choice
Good luck all and let us knowComment

Just another thought...
Since the class was completed on 12/17 (mine as well) the cert is dated as such and since we have 90 days past the SD Sheriff date to submit the cert, I don't see how 12/31 (end of the hybrid class) has any bearing on it.
Yes, I have a cert from Shane with 2 of my 3 firearms on it and yes it's dated 12/17 even though I received it 5 days after we completed the qual.
Good luckComment

At least you got yours lol. Yeah, I hope that’s the case with the dates. Thanks all!Just another thought...

OK, just spoke to the SD Sheriff's office, yes they called me back within 20 mins of receiving my email asking for guidance
.
In my case I have 2 options... 1 - Wait for Shane to respond and qual with my 3rd firearm and have it added to my current cert. or 2 - go to another instructor and qual with my 3rd firearm and submit 2 certs to my CCW application. Either way is fine since we have 90 days after the approval to get things submitted.
3rd option which he didn't recommend was submitting with just 2 now and add the 3rd down the road as that would require a permit mod for an additional fee.
He also stated that lately it's been 2-3 weeks to get the permit mailed out once everything is complete, sure better than the 4-5 weeks I had been hearing
The SD Sheriff's office is a great group of folks to work with, super nice and very responsive

Has anyone received a email from auto@permitium.com ?
I received an email yesterday stating that my permit was expiring, but in fact, I have 7 months to go, I am concerned it might be a phoney related to the CA list of CCW Permit Holders that was released to the internet about 6 months ago.Comment

That does seem odd and worth looking into. Mine expired in July, and I received no such email.Has anyone received a email from auto@permitium.com ?

Just got a call from sherifs office. I reached out with my concerns about not getting my certificate from DFT.
As long as it’s dated before the 31st, they will accept it. Funny thing is, I am not the only one with this issue. Seems other have called in and asked. DTF is still listed as an approved training facility for CCW’s. Wish they would at least update their voicemails or send email blast that they are out of town or experiencing some delays.
Definitely not using them again lol.Comment

SDSO CCW Currently Issued 8784 as of 12/22/22 (overall Δ per day: +4.34; last ~6m Δ per day: +10.19).
Thats 2.66 per 1,000 residents for San Diego County.

Foototes: During late 2022 there were some fluctuations in the reported figures. The update of 24 Jun. also included an acknowledgement of NYSRPA v. Bruen and some related commentary. The update of 16 Jul. changed the number reported from "Current CCW Licenses Issued" to "CCW Licenses Active" and the figure dropped by about 10%. The update of 18 Jul. (only two days later) changed the language again, to "Total CCW Licenses Active" and the figure recovered about 5%. The update of 25 Aug. recovered about another 5%, returning the data point to roughly in line with the previous trend.
