a sheriff's office employee (i don't know if they were a uniformed officer) came by my apartment to verify my residence. he said he talked to my property
manager. it seems reasonable that he would have identified as being with the sheriff's office, since they were asking about me. nothing has come of it between
me and the property manager. i can't be sure, she seems like she would be anti gun. i don't think the SDSO is advertising they are investigating for the purpose
of ccw. if anyone asked me about it, i would just say i applied to get a special security clearance for a job or something. it's not anyone else's business to know
that i'm armed, and i think the sheriff's office is with it on that.

        Congrats.
The info is what matters, I don't think any CA LEO would accept a CCW without looking up the number to check. Though AZ does have a hologram as I'm sure most other states.

They should have told you. The paper permit is the official permit recognized by the CA DOJ. The CC permit is in case the DOJ gets its act together (unlikely) and approves that permit. You need the paper permit with you per SDCSO.

I find this situation particularly sad and annoying. Really, just how many man hours could it possibly take for somebody to look at the plastic permit and determine if it has the required information, like one?

But because the result of that would be that being a CCW holder would be more convenient, I do not expect it to happen until something forces their hand.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

The more time I spend on this forum, the more sense kcbrown makes.

Reading through this thread has given me confidence on my approval odds, thank you all for that. Here is my timeline as I am still going through it.

                Application Submitted: 10/28/2021
                Initial Interview: 12/6/2021

By the sound of your experience I am hoping my 90 days becomes 78ish days. That would be great for me!

                        When does your permit expire?

Mine expires in August, I will have to start renewal also.

Every two years is nuts for many of us. Seems you just get it renewed and in no time it’s time again. I suppose there is no hope they will change in this state.

                              Agree, PITA.

When I lived in OK, my permit was good for 10 years, my FL nonresident is currently good for 7 years. Damn CA!

Eeh, yeah this is what i want to avoid. My work place would say great things about me as they promoted me to a lead position and overwatch training and daily tasks of all other non-doctor personnel, but i don’t think they want to have that kind of conversation with the sheriffs office in the first place.
