I sent in a request from the DES system and the response was to call. I called and was told that if the license says Federal Limits Apply we are to treat is the same as we treat the AB60 card. In other words we can't accept it. The fact that I know the customer and know the license is BS isn't going to save my behind when they run across this license during an audit. We have going on 47 years of experience running a gun shop in California. I have seen just about every way DOJ can set a shop up to fail. This one stinks to high heaven. I'm not willing to put myself in the middle of a pissing match between the state of California and ATF.
We are actively advising customers and anyone else who will listen via social media, word of mouth, and in store displays about renewing their DL and how to not fall into the Federal Limits Apply trap. Once they have this ID there is very little I can do until they are able to get a new one.

Do you have any idea what a COE looks like? There is no place to put a COE in the DES and it has nothing to do with identity.

Yes I've seen COE, I have one. But the letter of the law only says drivers license or state issued ID. An AB60 license is a driver's license per the PC requirement and a COE is proof of being legal to purchase a firearm, it says it right on the cert. Thus there should not be a citizenship\identity issue if you have an unexpired drivers license

So there is no need to enter it into DES if FFL keeps a copy of the COE and purchaser has any valid DL from CA.

CA law limits what ID is acceptable for the DROS submission, which is required for the background check. The laws actually exist. The CA DOJ is saying that the AB60 type license is not acceptable for the DROS, just like a paper license is not acceptable even if you have a passport.

It has to do with illegal immigrants because the DMV is issuing the same exact license to US residents. There never should have been an AB60 license as they are not legally here. That would have solved the problem, then making the licenses different would have also worked.

Do you think that this is a mistake? I don't. They are making the illegal alien licenses and the licenses for legal residents the same unless the person gets a Real ID. That is what the liberals really wanted from the start.

I agree about 100% with this it was planned and people like DeLeon with his illegal parents finally got one of their greatest wishes granted. It was genius on their part. Legitimize illegals even more and screw with gun buyers as a bonus. It is beyond wrong for an illegal ID to be same as one issued to legal residents and citizens let alone them being issued in the first place.

One thing bad for illegals is makes going through a TSA checkpoint and boarding a plane eventually impossible for them. Not sure how that will effect DACA "dreamers" by 2020. If that even still exists by then.

Because if you read this thread you would see the PC states what is acceptable for proof of identity and makes no exceptions for alternative documentation.

Let's call this what it is. The state wants to blend the population of illegals with citizens so nobody knows who is who. It's all about votes and voter fraud. It's about getting votes from people who shouldn't be voting in elections. And those being blended in are more likely to vote democrat than not so it's a win for the left. They don't care about anything but retaining control and power in the state. If you can't tell who is a citizen in the gun store you won't be able to tell at the ballot booth either. We have to wake up and fight this stuff.

So I went in today to try and get an updated Real ID - ID -- they had to replace my DL since both had only 1 of my middle names and not both of my middle names... and I was told the DL takes "precedence" over the ID... oh well...got my hole punched DL now and waiting for my Real ID - DL....

The only good news is that I was in-n-out pretty quick.. I arrived early for my 8:50a appt.. was out by 9:15am

Yep. Mine took 7 days UG and you were a little quicker in and out. Appointments are key to the real ID.

I do release on Undetermined. DOJ has made it clear that in the case of Undetermined it's up to us to release or not. Our policy is to release. This to me is much less of a risk than trying to slide by accepting Federal Limits Apply ID's. The feedback I've received from CADOJ was very clear. We may not accept Federal Limits Apply ID's.

Baffles me that a green card can be used to purchase firearms, yet the new license can not be...

to be clear...a person with a green card still needs a valid non AB60 worded DL or ID. Green card alone won't do it.

Show me the PC that says it must be RealID? The PC I find says state issued drivers license or identification card. Nothing about RealID compliant.

I don't think you quite understand whats going on with the process. Undetermined appears to be a situation where a question mark that must be resolved but hasn't and more time is need to assess the situation. If the firearm is delivered, they know where to go to get it anyway. The dems actually passed this law to mandate a release after 30 days so people wouldn't get caught up in the system for months like they did before.

Fed limits apply is exactly what ACE wrote up. Its also a way to make it harder for a someone to actually buy a firearm.

DOJ isn't advising anything on not taking a Fed Limits Apply. LOL They are forbidding it.

Green cards are need for any non citizen or a valid visa AND a hunting license or exemption from the Sec of State of the United States. (whatever that is)
