"Real ID" Update

I've had several people who have apparently renewed through the mail and I guess by default have been mailed "F.L.A." licenses. DMV will make a bunch of money these next few years from folks having to reapply (and pay) for "Real I.D." licenses.

The problem I have is.. I went into the DMV with an appointment. Got the Real ID app...they checked my passport, copied my W2, etc... told me I had to get a Real DL instead of Real ID (I wanted to get ID in case they effed up my DL)... Was told it had to be DL because that takes precedence over the ID...was NOT told my ID would become invalid...

All of that..and they still sent me the wrong effin DL and canceled my ID card.

So now I have to go back and ask them WTF

They are giving you bad info. Both me and my wife went and got REAL ID CA ID CARDS at the Pittsburg Office. The choice is yours, the only restriction DMV has is that only one can be a REAL ID. At this point I would go back and since they already screwed up your license, leave it as is and tell them you want a READ ID CA ID CARD.

Yeah I'll probably try to do that now. I'm going to a different DMV so maybe I'll have better results.
