Do you think the recent LE shootings and officers getting shot have anything to do with "I don't like cops." attitude?

before I put my $.02 into this thread I just wanted to say something about Police Chiefs. Officers work for Chiefs not the other way around regardless of what a Police Association "Union" requests. If a Chief makes a statement regarding grab control laws, it does not necessarily reflect the feelings of the officers that work for the Chief.Ok, since this time you asked politely... Look up the list of largest cities in California. Start from the top and work down looking at all the public statements and legislative support the PD Chiefs of these cities have given. Here's the cities list:
Am I grateful that a Chief out in the boonies is pro-2A? Absolutely, but his area of influence pales in comparison to LA (population 3.8 million), whose Chief has endorsed a federal ban on the sale of 'high-capacity' magazines. Or San Diego's last Chief who basically said he supports gun control laws that will eventually take guns off the street in a generation
Etc...
I am pro 2a and I think my Chief is not. The difference is I let all my co-workers and they know how I feel, and the Chief has the right to agree and disagree with me much like some of the comments on this thread. regardless of how passionate each one of us feels about the status of police and community relations, each person has a right to their opinion. My point is the Chief does things they want to do regardless of what the officers may say, and we disagree on a lot just as much as we agree on a lot. If the Chief wants to make you push a black and white for your career, you have a fight Officers can effect change, have a voice, but if the Chief wants to tell the public they don't support or do support certain gun laws, I'm not going to violate their rights to freedom of speech specifically regarding politics much like I don't want to violate any citizen rights. So Yes I can tell the Chief how I feel and my Chief knows how I feel, it doesn't mean the Chief will all of a sudden agree with me and vote the way I vote.
I think the public everyone including LEOs because we are members of this community, neighbors, regular people who had a calling in life to do something have become more defensive with each other. Neighbors are afraid to tell neighbors their dog or party is loud but we demand that our officers practice Community Oriented Policing methods when some in our own community don't want to want to try and fix things themselves. Earlier someone mentioned smaller communities that work with law enforcement very ideal situation, but rare and it takes both the community and police to work in that direction.
There are bad apples in law enforcement, and I find being as an LEO if you make a mistake, its better to admit fault move on learn when YOU MAKE THE MISTAKE, I find it hard for any LEO to be put in a position where a ton of people on a forum write in ways that a vibe of you need to admit all of you are wrong is placed in the LEOs lap. Now this is simply the perception I am getting and I am sure a lot of people who responded to this thread will say that was not the message they were trying to send across.
Hindsight is 20/20 but if you really want to take part of change in your community, volunteer at your local PD, attend the citizen academy. We have a force option machine (currently down) much like a video game that places the public in shoot and don't shoot situations. Surprisingly I have seen poor decisions made by the public who may have had a different view of what type of force can be used. Is it unfair to the average citizen without training to be judged on the use of force they displayed in the simulator, absolutely they lack the knowledge of the deployment of force, is it unfair to judge an officer on their reactions to an incident with limited knowledge of the scenario and lack of training absolutely, but it still happens with the members of our communities.
Sometimes I feel if Blue was a race, we would definitely be discriminated against by some members of the community. Just like every White person is not racist, every minority is not a gangbanger, every LEO is not a bad apple that you see in the media.
We are all ultimately community members regardless of jobs, to affect change, be proactive members, vote, attend meetings, demand that your leaders in the community strive to better their cities, don't ignore blight, be part of the solution. I see people video tapping fights, how about use your phone to call police, call for help. If we want to change our communities and the police, lets all change for the better and work at not being afraid to do right regardless if its a bad apple that needs to be addressed by a Sgt because that person is ruining the faith the people have in my occupation to yeah I know who broke into that car and I'm going to tell the police to make my street safer.
I most of the thread prior to posting but alas I did not read all of it forgot to put that disclaimer out.
sincerely
A member of the community I choose to protect.
Rainbows unicorns and skittles that way people wont think I'm upset or angry at anyone on this thread.
