Perhaps you yourself have done things along these lines in the past.

And I think for the most part I think people give credit where it's due. For instance I had an off duty police officer put a 9mm beretta to my temple during a traffic stop.

I'm not exaggerating the barrel was pressed against my forehead, I was speeding on a deserted road in the middle of nowhere at noon, what cause was there for that. But that does'nt mean when another police officer writes me a ticket I'm going to blame them for that instance.

Another time fontana PD took one of my friends from his house during a screaming match with his mom to the mining area in rebedeaux and told him they could just leave his body there, the kid was 18 and they made him walk home with no shoes on.

There is a lot of bad stuff that happens and as a responsible member of that group of individuals you should respond to these kinds of things like they are an inbox of suggestions like a professional.
This forum is for Law Enforcement Officers to exchange ideas and for non-law enforcement to ask civil questions, not as your personal soapbox to complain about how mistreated you are.

If you have a civil question to ask, ASK IT. If not, please go away.

Every law enforcement agency in the state has a complaint procedure. If you have a beef with the way you are treated, contact the agency. Vague and rambling complaints are not appropriate here.

P.S. The town is spelled R-U-B-I-D-O-U-X. Spend a little less time complaining and take a spelling class and/or an anatomy class.

YOU ARE GIVING ME A POPSICLE HEADACHE !!

Once again, there is no law that says it is unlawful to possess an unregistered pistol, regardless of what state they come from. If you know of some magic penal code section, PLEASE list it.

The Arizona reference was soley to point out how California has things screwed up with charging for the DROS and the 10 day wait for a background check, which in todays world, can be done in minutes. California DOJ uses the same NICS clearing house that Arizona dealers use, they just cut the state government out of the loop, saving the customer money.

There ARE sentence enhancements if you commit certain crimes with a handgun and there is not a DROS in your name.

Lavgrunt, let me add my voice to those urging you not to leave this forum. The more active and retired (that's me) leos that are on this forum, the more opportunity non leos have to have their questions answered.

As all can see from the Kestryll's sticky at the top, he is trying, with assistance from his mods, to select a mod for this forum. I believe once that occurs, there will be less of a problem here with bashers.

Since you are an active leo, you have knowledge and experiences that can prove invaluable to any non leo who comes to this forum with a question. Please stay and help them out.

I'll be frank; I had stopped coming here a while back because there didn't seem to be much traffic going on in this forum. Now that I've spent the last few days here, I can see that has changed and I intend to spend a lot more time here.

In addition to spending some time with people of like mind and backround, I hope I can be of some help to anyone asking any le type question.

So, please reconsider. Thanks and be safe.

Do you think you have the right to run every handgun at the range to see if it is registered?
Even here in California, MG's, suppressors, SBR's, SBS's and DD are legal under federal law and state statute.

          Not common, but legal.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

How the heck did an "off duty" police officer pull you over in the first place? I am sorry but it seems so crazy that an Officer off duty would do a traffic stop in the first place. Doesn't seem credible to me.

I know a few police officers, CHP, Sheriff's ( not close). They have been pulled over and had firearms pointed at them (when off duty), and personally I had it happen to me as well but in front of a supermarket (LOL 2=AR's, 2=shotguns,2=pistols). When it was over and they released me, I laughed about it, because they had no idea who I was and everyone does thier job to best of their ability in a good, bad, or indifferent mood that they are in. I just chalked it up as another day, enjoy the time I have in this life with my family.
If everyone NEVER made mistakes, or had a bad day, this world would SUCK. You couldn't pay me enough to put my life on the line, have idiots to face everyday and not knowing whether or not they are armed, to do the job these men and women do. At least our brave soldiers overseas have an idea who the enemy is. Our local law enforcement DOESN'T have that luxury. So I say Thank you sirs and ma'ams for keeping our streets safe for my kids to ride their bikes on.

                      In response to the OP:

I grew up in a rural town where my mother was the Dispatcher Supervisor for 30 years, so I was around cops all my life, even a couple who lived in my house. 99% of the cops I have met have been honest and good people, who genuinely wanted to make a positive difference in society.

However, there is a small percentage of LEOs that see the citizens they are sworn to protect as adversaries, there are also those who are simply grown-up bullies and abuse the power that they wield. There are even some who think they are above the law, and although perhaps infrequent, the media loves to publicize it when they are caught. No, the percentages aren't any different than any other profession in our society - except that as LEOs you are expected to live an exemplary life, like a priest or a teacher.

While I don't think getting a speeding ticket you don't agree with counts, or even an argument with a cop over specifics of the law (that's what court is for), running into a seriously abusive LEO is not much different from running into an abusive priest. It will scar a person for life as far as how they think about LEOs. They will also tell a lot of people about it. There are non-criminals who are terrified of cops, and for some it is justified. I have personally had my car searched after refusing to consent, and even though I had nothing to hide, I felt violated and powerless to do anything about it.

Your anger should be toward those LEOs that abuse their position and give the profession a bad reputation, not the bashers. Maybe you need to consider that some of them have legitimate complaints.

Every driver I stopped for a traffic violation argued and threatened me that they are going to file a complaint. That day was no different than any other days, but I didn't know why the drivers were like that. Maybe it was a full moon. I was pretty nice to most people most of the time, and most drivers drove off thanking me after I gave them the tickets in the past. I had to write those tickets to protect myself from a false complaint.
I can't say I ever heard of anyone thanking a cop for giving them a ticket.

I see it this way. most cops are probably decent human beings. A few are not. The few get the press. The way the system works protects those few. Its frustrating to not be able to get any kind of justice. The people who have a legitimate beef are not ever going to forget that.

Let me tell you my minor story of abusive police. Chicago 1980, maybe 1981. Me driving to school. I see a dump truck along the side of the road. Don't think much about it. Pull around it and make a right hand turn. See cop car. Don't think much of it. Pull past cop car. Cop car turns on lights. Don't think much about it. Pull over so cop car can get past. Oddly, cop car stops behind me. I wonder if I have tail light out or something. Cop comes up and says "Didn't you see the "constructiuon zone - no right turn sign" and jerks thumb in direction of dump truck. I say "no". No way to see sign because dump truck is hiding it. Cop enjoying self to no end giving me ticket for something I could not possibly know is illegal. No way anyone can ever forget the kind of scum that would do something like that. After I drive off, cop backs car up and waits for next victim.

A hundred encounters with decent cops will not make me forget the one bad one. However, I also recognize that kind of slime is not the norm. But someone that has a few bad encounters with cops might not be inclined to make that distinction anymore.

There are also a very few jurisdictions with a long doucmented history of corrupt and/or abusive cops. People that have had to live with that kind of situation are never going to forget it either.

Okay, you've asked a legitimate question or made a point in an appropriate manner. As such, you deserve a like response.

In regards to your last paragraph: "Your anger should be toward those LEOs that abuse their position and give the profession a bad reputation, not the bashers. Maybe you need to consider that some of them have legitimate complaints."

I agree in part. But the OP's "anger" and mine too for that matter, is that this LEO Forum was not designed nor intended for this bashing. I'm not saying that there are some cops that don't deserve a bashing. It's just that this is not the forum for that to take place. There are however many forums on the internet that welcome cop bashing, and will give tips on how to formalize these into complaints.

We do consider that a few bashers have legtimate complaints. It's just that myself and the other LEO's here are powerless to fix them. Our ears and attention spans become numb to them anyway. I could go to my local auto repair shop, and then spend my waiting time bashing other mechanics who have overcharged, me, done shoddy work, were incompetent, had a dirty unsafe shop, didn't pay attention to specific items I had requested them to look at, used the wrong parts, etc. If I were to do this, the service manager would probably give me a card with the number to the CA Bureau of Automotive Repair, and direct me to take my "legitimate complaints" there. He'd be right in doing so, because my "bashing" there and then was unproductive, a distraction to his mechanics, and uncomfortable for the other waiting customers, etc.

                          We LEO's must patiently listen to this 2nd or 3rd party bashing while on the clock. It's just part of the job. When we come to this forum on our own time to relieve some stress, relax a bit, or to forget about the job for a few minutes of R&R. It is counter productive to our psyches to be saturated with it again. This forum was designed and intended for this purpose. Any civilian member of CalGuns is welcome to come in and ask an intelligently worded question (like the one you just made) free from inflammatory remarks, insults, or just plain rudeness. Either myself or another forum member will take the time out to answer the question to the best of our ability. It may not be the answer you are seeking. If you are asking for an opinion the answer may not comport to yours, or to another LEO's opinion, because that is the very nature of opinions. They are subjective. Once you receive a reply;
do not respond by telling the LEO that he is wrong, passing out FUD, doesn't know what he's talking about, shouldn't be an LEO, or should get fired for having that opinion, etc. But please do respond back to the answering LEO whether you agree with his answer or not. I've spent as much as 3 hrs. researching and answering a given question, and never even had the "asker" log back on to find out what answer I've provided. That's kind of frustrasting.

Not worth the pain to download it now, but once the pain is gone and you can use more than one finger to type.

I've loaded it about 10 times this year. After installation, I get a message thanking me for sucessful installation. It has failed to work yet.

                                thats odd.

it works off the right click menu.

when you are done typing but before you click on send right click inside the box you are typing on and the IeSpell menu should come up.

unless you are not using internet explorer?

or maybe one of your security settings is preventing it from working.
