My thoughts after escaping Hellifornia one year ago...

Wow! I've lived here for the most part of 50 years, and I get stopped maybe once every decade. Last time was by a sheriff in Elmore County when I was way over the limit. Gave us a warning and off we went.Love Idaho. I get stopped by law enforcement all the time though. Maybe it's a relative thing having migrated from a lawless California. But I swear... I've been stopped 5 times the past two years by Sheriff departments all over the state and twice in the woods by IDFG conservation officers. Never have been stopped by a cop in CA. Never got a ticket though, and I usually let them know I got guns in the truck that leads to talking about shooting/guns/hunting for a good while.
Pro-tip for sportsmen here. If IDFG checks you for license and tags, big game is likely near.Comment

However, the purer, less polluted Idaho air and its more natural environment, especially if you are presently residing in a large, highly-trafficked city in California, might as well improve her medical condition a lot. If you guys spend a few weeks in Idaho, she will surely know if it does and she might also really like very much other aspects of daily life there that need to be experienced first hand before making such a life-changing decision. Something to take into consideration... Why not give it a try?Comment

Life on this earth can indeed appear to be so very fragile at times, but as they say, "when your time to go comes..." One can of course die from shoveling, slipping on ice, a car accident, heart disease, cancer, etc. but whatever the expedient involved at that particular time in one's life, you cannot be in fear of any of these potential causes if you want to live your life to the fullest, IMHO.
Just remember something like 3k people die each year from shoveling/ snowblowers and something like 15k people die from slipping on ice. As you get older it should be a bigger concern. Going from CA to any cold weather real snow area should make you slightly more cautious.
My family lost an uncle who moved back to Minnesota after being gone his whole adult life, his second winter he slipped and fell walking out to shovel snow, he ended up dying in the hospital a week or so later. Turns out this happens a lot.Comment

Given the fact that you love Idaho, may I ask what your reason(s) for never wanting to move back are?My daughter lives in Emmett. We were there June 19 for my grandson's birthday. GarandThumb bought his ranch in a canyon just north of there from what I can tell. I lived in Idaho from 1984-2005, when I moved to south Orange County. As much as I love Idaho, I will probably never move back. Although we have considered trying to get some land around Arco, or somewhere in eastern Idaho.... Great recreation access over there.Comment

Sorry to hear that, man. Living FREE is so important... I hope that things will change for you someday.my great wife of 56 years will never move, that is my fate. I no longer go to my range WEGC, the atmosphier their has changed.People used to be friendy. Now they look away and act worried.I no longer shoot or buy guns. CA has ruined the fun it used to be, Visited my two sisters in Georgia last summer. They got out of CA about 5 years ago. I liked Georgia enough to move their if i could. Have fun living FREEComment

You are correct, crime is encouraged and rewarded in California. So sick and tired of the utter immorality of it and looking forward to the seeming utopia of a place of residence such as the one you live in at this time.
I used to think that way too. There is respect for the law here. As a result, there is order. Contrast that with CA.
When people routinely break little laws, it is only a matter of time until pure chaos ensues.
In my wildest dreams as a kid would I have never imagined a society (CA) where it was essentially legal to shoplift. Illegal immigration is encouraged. Bums and drug users roam the streets with no fear of punishment. I could go on and on.
Most people have become numb to the dystopia and it seems normal. CA is like hell on earth to me. The longer I am away, the clearer I can see it.Comment

I officially moved to Eagle in June. My wife got a head start on me and moved last year with my 19 and 23 year old sons. The year apart was tough, but I needed the 30 year benchmark to get the extra bump in pay. In my short time here, I have to agree with you.I live in Eagle. I saw the same "Californians Suck" graffiti. It was by the Boise River off Eagle Road. It was gone the next day.
Idaho isn't perfect. Eagle Road is the most busy. Sometimes, you sail right through. Other times, you hit some traffic. This area wasn't designed for the increase in the population we have seen. The Boise River limits the number of arteries that can go north. I have seen traffic on the 84 FWY south in the mornings. But, that is it. I don't drive that area.
Eagle is the area to be if you are a conservative. The State Street Saloon recently held "Heterosexual Awesomeness Month" during June. He was flooded with people supporting him. Eagle doesn't hate Mexicans. Or, blacks. There just is not that many of them. Eagle hates wokeness and all the liberalism that destroyed the once great State of CA.
Idaho is still Earth. Therefore, it is not perfect. Maybe it goes to hell too like the rest of the country? Who knows. But, I told my wife when we moved here it is like when Jack and Rose were running to the top of the Titanic. It bought them time.

You should ask the black guy in my neighborhood who drives a McLaren around. I see him walking around with his two dogs and talking to his white neighbors. There are 368 homes in the subdivision and he is just as welcomed as anyone else. When I spoke to him, he was very pleasant and outgoing and already knew my youngest son who has had several conversations with him. Idaho is a great state for people who like freedom, common sense laws , and mind their own business.Calguns Contributor

Really (too many Californians)? Assuming you have given it already some thought, what would be your favorite place(s) to move to to get away from California?Comment

So sad to read this... California and all it represents IS a cancer. Patriotic American ex-Californians *generally* tend to be indoctrinated communists who, not even aware of doing so, spread their leftist ideologies wherever they go, contaminating and ruining everything they touch in the process. In laws live in Eagle. I visited them five years ago right after they moved and TV and the area was great. I visited them again for Easter this year and the insane traffic and crowds at every store was very depressing compared to how it was five years ago. Like everything nice,
the California Cancer infests it. I would still consider parts of ID but nothing in the TV area. As crowded or more crowded than OC and the traffic everywhere was almost as bad as the 405 at rush hour. Too many invaders spoiled the nice parts about living there (it's affordable, low to no traffic, you don't have to wait in line everywhere for anything.)
Obviously a MUCH more free state that Commifornia, went to their church for Easter Services, it was great, but I would not move to TV ever. If it's this bad now, imagine how it will be in five more years? Commifornians spoil everything, even patriotic American ex-Californians.
Is this our ultimate destiny as a Nation? How did we manage to get this way? Is there any way to stop this, before it is too late?Comment
