I became SW WA (70% Maga) resident full time a year ago. Most the politics and problems that affect you daily, are local.

Some acreage with a shop. I haven't even been camping this year, I feel like I'm camping everyday (in 2300 sq ft).

So while not ALL the perks of a red state, I didn't give up my ocean. Only a small amount of snow. People are nice. People are cordial.
What you say makes sense to some extent. But state laws will still adversely affect your rural community living when you reside in a blue state (2A-restrictive state legislation, etc.)

I can only say I'm 1000X happier here than I was in San Jose. I didn't have to give up my ocean, I can mail order ammo, the gun culture is alive and well with many gun shops, people openly discuss firearms, hunting, etc. CCW was fill out a form, pay $50 get fingerprinted and background check. Had it in < 30 days. Open carry is legal and somewhat practiced.

I have no income tax, I can drive an hour or so to OR to escape sales tax on larger purchases. WA does have sales tax on basically everything (including labor), but with a carve out for gun safes.

WA did ban new sales of regular capacity mags and AR15's, but I honestly have enough.

You do not have to be a WA resident to gent a WA CCW for $50 and a set of prints. As for a WA sales tax, all you have to do is look at the number of WA plates parked at ID stores, including Idaho's state run liquor stores, to know that WA sales taxes are too high in order to make up for not having an income tax.

Sales tax will never come close to replacing income tax in dollars spent annually. And sales tax is readily bypassable on larger (unregistered) ticket items. WA does have a high "sin tax", but everyone around here goes to OR to stock up on booze. My county is one of the lowest (7.8%) in WA.
