There is no component in the bill for owners to recover their losses. That is why it runs afoul of the 5th Amendment.

I'm glad our elected officials can so easily disregard other Constitutionally protected rights. I was beginning to feel that the 2nd was the only right they chose to ignore.

Hearing those people talk this morning melted my brain. The level of incompetence is even higher than I ever imagined at the government level. Voting "Yes" on a law you admittedly know nothing about is absolutely absurd. I feel like the tape of this morning's meeting could be used as evidence in any future lawsuit that happens with this bill moving forward--I can't believe Committee Members actually went on record admitting this was out of their league, but voted "Yes" anyway. Where is due process? Where is vetting? Where is hearing all the facts? Those in opposition had a total of FOUR MINUTES to make their case? While Yee, who CLEARLY had no idea what he was talking about, was allowed to make both opening and closing statements? What a load of crap. I don't remember who the first witness for the opposition was (apologies), but he sure did make the most of his two minutes to talk. I wish he had more time, because he was doing a brilliant job of pointing out all the flaws.

The whole "conversion kit" language is so vague it could literally be ANYTHING. If the DOJ had a boner for you, they could take any screw and spring from your garage and call it a conversion kit even if you never owned an AR or AK type rifle.

I'm still stunned that these idiots managed to convince some other idiots they could run a state. I wouldn't let these people run a popcorn stand at the zoo.

            Guys Time to Calm Down

            Folks,

I have first hand information that what you saw/heard in the Saftey Committee is typical. They DO NOT read the bills, the Committee especially on gun issues just blows them through. Let our legal team do the work, and this will be worked out. If Moonbeam passes it it will be attacked on several fronts, so everybody do the best you can to take it easy. A2

Good advice. If this does get to become a law. I'm sure CGF or the NRA or someone will challenge its xn compatibility. People already raised the 5A issue. I'm sure there's a 2A issue somewhere. Hopefully, this will be short lived kind of like what happens to many laws we attempt to run here in CA. Immediate one that comes to mind is the Prop 8. Voter approved, yet xn incompatible. Hopefully something similar happens with this crap and Yee gets exposed as the mental midget he truly is.

I think what killed me the most was how they all use "semi-automatic," "automatic," and "assault weapon" interchangeably as if they're all the same thing. They've villainized all of those terms now.

Unbelievable--how did California get to this point? What happened to all the cowboys?

                          SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

                          I'd call that an issue.

They got their nails done and got fatted and became complacent. Jefferson said that the price of Freedom is eternal vigilance. These types of tyrannous laws is what he was referring to!

So, SHTF situation, if they get this through, oppositions in the legal corners get shut down. What happens then? Do we surrender our AR's? I'm thinking...taking mine apart and giving them my lower...here you go Mr. Yee, hope you play on the freeway one day!

Yeah, but if that's the case, this whole state is not compatible with the xn. CA government has done nothing but infringe on 2A. All in the guise that they are allowed to make restrictions in the interests of the people. It is really gettng close to the point I bid the Golden State adieu. Damn shame.
