Thanks for your clarification, I think. Being kind of new to this whole thing I am going to ask a dumb question so please forgive me. The AR15 rifles that are currently being sold in CA by licensed dealers with the bullet button features are not approved for CA? I'm a bit confused?

After listening to the entire committee hearing, I can now understand why California is on the verge of financial collapse. First, the committee was completely unprofessional; starting late and making jokes about a bromance and someone's MENSA traits (or lack thereof). Second, most of the committee members don't seem to really care what is in the bill, only that it is anti-gun so it's good enough to pass. Third, it was painfully obvious that Yee and his little Brady munchkin are clearly going after the bullet button and virtually all semiautomatic rifles. The Brady munchkin was at least honest about what she wants, while Yee is either (1) too stupid to understand the issue or (2) a flat out liar. The intent seems to pass a bill that is so vague that the CA DOJ can interpret it any way they want and pass rules banning whole classes of firearms. While it made for good theater for one committee member to express the need for the DOJ to be involved, since they are the "experts", I think they are already involved behind the scenes and will not emerge from behind the curtain until the bill has been passed and signed. We know they are lying, they know they are lying, they know we know they are lying, we know they know we know they are lying, but they are still lying. ~ SolzhenitsynComment

They aim to have a ban by 7/2013, so my guess is that this will get some motion soon after the baffoons that supposedly represent us reconvene.Last edited by XD40SUBBIE; 07-03-2012, 12:57 PM.Comment

This is ridiculous!!!!!!!But, I've come to the realization that CA will never recover from the liberals majority.
So, BB rifles/carbines MAY be outlawed........OK, BS, but OK......
How, by using just a little bit of rational thinking by Yee, does this prevent criminals from possessing "AWs" (semi or full auto) or law abiding citizens from going featureless and running legally aquired standard or high cap mags as fast as they can pull the darn trigger???
It doesn't!!!
If this goes thru, we need to press manufacturers to develop a "fixed mag" system for our ARs, AKs, etc. It can be done.
I've just completely had enough of CA. I've lived here my entire life and used to be proud of it. Now, I'm counting down to when my daughters go off to college and if this state doesn't radically improve, I'm gone........
So, if SB 249 passes into law, rest assured, featureless semi-auto centerfire will be next. Then they will chip away at every weapon (system) until LEOs have to use whistles and "head-to-toe" body armor because only the criminals will be armed..........
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO FIGHT FOR OUR GUN RIGHTS IN CA AND THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO VOICED YOU OPINIONS WITH EMAILS, LETTER, PHONE CALLS, ETC. KEEP IT UP AND KEEP THE PRESSURE ON.......

Didn't see an answer yet - path for bill:
* Goes to Assembly Appropriations - if passes,
* * Goes to Assembly floor - if passes
* * * Goes back to Senate floor for vote on concurring with amendments made in Assembly - if passes
* * * * Goes to Governor, who may sign, veto, or allow to become law without signatureComment
