It's a Boreal by Abe Elias of Diving Sparrow Knifeworks. Pretty well known in the bushcraft community especially up in Canada. (see post #752 in this thread).

I am still waiting for my Mountaineer by Adventure Sworn to come in. Estimated time of completion I was given: 6-7 weeks. Actual time I have been waiting so far: 13 weeks. Ugh.

I've heard of Diving Sparrow Knifeworks and it's a well respected company. It looks like a really comfortable knife. Their knives look beautiful as well.

The waiting game is tough especially when the estimated time of completion go double or longer than expected. Survive! has the same issue and there are a lot of people waiting for their knives that they ordered a year ago. They aren't the prettiest knives, but they put out some quality blades for decent prices. However, I prefer to have a quality knife with the attention to detail versus any company rushing through their production. Fortunately, all of us have plenty of knives to keep us busy in the meantime

Yeah I assume similar balance to a 911 with the thinner stock. It will probably get to live in my extra Lost Mountain Iron Works sheath... that or the Bunker Buster BG (Sage and Tan). The LMIW guy was kind enough to send me two kydex inserts with my last one because I wasn't sure the 3/16th would be used, so he shipped out a .220 for free. Nice guy.

Nice stuff. Love the Axe. You had me almost ordering one the other day, hahah. Horrible thread!

I see the logic in smaller well balanced fast handling blades. I started in folders and so when I started buying fixed blades it was real hard for me to pickup blades that were 4" or 4.5" because my folders were that size.

I do have plenty of smaller customs and also Becker's, Mora's, etc... though... smaller Rats and Dogs too. I like my SYKCO 511 and all my Moras for sure. I guess in my collection, a 6" blade is small. I love the Rodent 6 size, but choppers are just a blast. I never assume everyone is using their knives for the same purpose that I am, whether it is collecting, entertainment, or chopping something the most (or least) efficient way

The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

Just a heads up. Since the Busse Grab Bags were sent out (typically three random blades they had left over from shows, cancelled orders, etc...), there have been a lot of knives being sold in the exchange. Tons of smaller knives like 511's and 311's which are usually harder to find. Since everyone got a lot for the money, the prices are good. I'm keeping my tan camo 311, Mean Streets BG (orange G10), and Swamp Rat Warden (Bamma Clay)... but I need to figure out sheaths. I think Brown still makes these but most don't have the blades on hand anymore (AzWelke, Mashed Cat).

I imagine only Busse knows that. I'd never heard of it before the recent ones. I think they had two rounds of it. I could be wrong, but I thought it was the first time they did this. It makes sense that it would be excess stock from shows, but I think the boss man said that they put new retail price hang tags on the items prior to shipping so the buyers would know they were getting a lot for the money.

It is kind of fun, but I will probably stick to just ordering exactly what I want. The good thing about Busse stuff though, any grab bags could be flipped quick for more money if you don't like anything.

Maybe stay tuned to the Busse forums for a heads up and wait out the next few rounds of Operation Two Weeks and the next big show afterwards they might have some stuff to toss into random bags again.

Might take a while though... this TRASH2 is going on 9 months waiting to ship.
