I think part of the value of the scenarios is you don't know what to expect and have to think on the spot. Regarding the format, the scenarios I've been through at FS are: blue gun with live actors and other students, live fire CQB on paper silhouettes, vehicle/barrier live fire on the move on steel/paper silhouettes, sometimes with a scenario objective like baby extraction.
I do have some quibble with some of the scenarios. I understand the narrow point of them (the lesson is distilled), but think there could be some modifications for closer realism. Perhaps there should be a more "advanced" course focused on force on force or actor CQB with simunitions. I've taken such courses at other places and they are very valuable. It's extremely resource (labor primarily) intensive to run and physically exhausting for the staff actors, but the learning experience is great.Comment

We used to do force on force training with airsoft guns against instructors and students in the shoot houses during the advanced courses. File that under "The Best of FS Of Years Past."I think part of the value of the scenarios is you don't know what to expect and have to think on the spot. is the skills test for the 4D defensive HG class administered from concealment?
I've been practicing everything on the skills test rubric that was posted here a few years ago and i think i could complete most of the items within the given time.
have the test or time limits changed at all?
how many points do you lose for misses vs. overtime vs. procedural errors?

I used to play paintball many years ago and I think simunitions is the way to go for training. Paintball gun sizes already make it a deal breaker. I think airsoft is good for at home training (and it's cheap) but simunitions still has it beat for formal structured actor based training. I can imagine the heartburn from FS to operate a course like that though. It'd be expensive and likely a repeat favorite of FS veterans.
I had seen that 2D Tactical Scenarios course and it looks interesting but it requires DGs in HG, Practical Rifle, and Shotgun. I think something specific to hand guns covers the majority of civilian CQB scenarios. I get the sense the requirement of DGs in three different platforms is meant more as an attendance filter rather than requiring the cross platform skillset. Maybe I'm wrong as I haven't taken it.Comment

Answers in bold:

Yes, other than one event which is gun out, from the "ready".

Not that I know of, but not sure.

Each shot is 5 points. If you miss the thorasic cavity / head box, but still inside the secondary silhouette, it's only 2 points (aka 3 points down). A complete miss of silhouette is 0 points (aka 5 points down). A procedural on malfunctions is 3 points down, that is, if any step was not followed or time expired during that single event. I think overtime on shooting events is 3 points down, but not positive.Comment

2-Day Tactical Scenarios is all Handgun right now. It used to be handgun and some rifle.I used to play paintball many years ago and I think simunitions is the way to go for training.
