I paid a fair bit for 2 Ambassador memberships several years ago. I had a bunch of diamond memberships included with them that I'd planned to gift to friends. Job and health kept me from going, so I planned to go a few times a year after retirement.
After all this, my opinion of Piazza is about the lowest I've ever had for any human. I'm just stunned. Never thought he would go this low, not even close. I thought he had a mission, and I wanted to support that.

Just sick about this.

Read the last few pages. My settings are 40 posts per page.
Basically all life memberships now require a maintenance fee of $50 per month to keep your membership. Transferring memberships now costs $1K per each, last week was free. More fees for each class, an if you take a class you have to buy your ammunition from their store.
It's a big F U to all those that bought memberships.
He's also got some major rationalization going on.

I wonder if he's given long term thought to this.

He hoses everyone, especially long time partakers and where is he going to get new ones? Did he consider that now the very thing he wanted to do he has no guaranteed can't be done:

To spread the word and share the memberships he's given us over the years with others...family, friends, coworkers, etc. He will have to start this all over again like he did back in the day when it was new.

The only difference is now he'll have a lot of really upset people telling those same family members, friends and coworkers NOT to go.

I truly hope his next email is something like "April Fools! I was just kidding "

But somehow I doubt that will ever happen.

Maybe he's getting rid of memberships so he can sell off the property with no liabilties?

You post here got me thinking. maybe you have a point. If he gets enough people paying the maintenance fees and trying to hang on long enough to get one more class in before throwing in the towel, he may keep things afloat for a very short time until they bail. Then because there were not enough new members close the doors and declare bankruptcy. At that point even if the courts awarded members any compensation he would claim there are only say 5000 members because all the previous members voluntary gave up their memberships.
Who knows? It's hard to figure out a really devious mind.
