Well ergonomics isn't the issue, as the FAL is by far the original black rifle and the M1 is the paratrooper model. Biggest problem is that all of them are too damn much fun to shoot.
We'll just give them the 'ol number 6.

If you are flying in, the biggest problem is your ammo with two or three rifles in two or three different calibers. Can't have all three calibers shipped to the hotel, because you'll have a hard time flying back with them, if you're not good at lying to the airline that you only have 11 lbs of ammo with you LOL

If you are driving, it's a non issue.

I'm having this exact same dilemma for May: bring the 47 or the 74, 7.62 or 5.45?

Before they sold ammo onsite I could make some pretty good buys on ammo from the folks in the shotgun class that had to get rid of their excess ammo before their flight back. Worked out pretty well.

Those were the good 'ol days, I did the same thing, came home with a case of bird, 1/2 case of buck and about 50 slugs on one trip. That made it quite easy to sign up for the next SG class.

No flying for me, I'm close to FS (about 5 hours pulling the trailer) so multiple guns and calibers isn't an issue.
That said, I've decided to give the M1 carbine some much needed love, plus I need to exercise my eyes and use the iron sights, I'll bring the AR as a back up as the extractor is the week link on the M1. I figured I'll take the FAL on skill builder as it'll be easier to tote that 12lb rifle for 2 days instead of 4.

                  Interesting article and video . . .

In this new high-tech world that seems to be driven by the Internet, we continually see so-called gun fight commandos condemning the Weaver stance. Problem is, most do not understand it. Another pr…

The weaver works for me too. I immediately took to that style/stance when I first started shooting. I've tried isosceles several times ever since, but I could never warm up to it. Weaver is more comfortable for me and I shoot better with it. Also makes for easier transitioning to other guns/platforms etc. None of which I do just yet. But, nice to know.

                    Happy shooting and be safe.

Weaver tends to be more stable and thus more accurate. Iso is closer to the stance someone like a police officer will take in a real gunfight. For a civilian defensive shooting you will probably have to shoot from however you are standing when attacked or sitting knocked on your *** or ...

When I train at other places, they usually teach ISO, I always shot and shoot Weav, so for the first days of classes, I always look like a newbie as I default to Weav and then try to switch to ISO.

just got back from 4-day handgun class, took it support side. shot it 12 down (yay!) but I had a couple lates so I missed DG just barely. headshots did me in, if I could have kept them in (missed by less than an inch on all of them), I would have DG'ed even with the lates. oh, well, it was a fun class. heck, driving up, I was just hoping that I would be safe and maybe graduate. I was suprised I was able to pick it up so fast.

Good job! What type of concealment did you use? I went for the gusto, first time support side, brand new never fired sub compact and closed front concealment.
I too went into it with the just be safe attitude, was amazed how quickly I adapted (well my eyes didn't), but I no doubtedly need to practice with closed front presentation as I got hung up (don't use a stretchy thermal type of clothing) and ended up rushing my controlled pairs.
