Wow, DONE with testing out case lubes on .223

Tonight I thought that I would try my New RCBS X-Die FL Sizer so I plugged it into my JRR3 and started sizing .223 brass. Well, I do not have imperial sizing wax like what we used at Bronco's place but I did have this Hornady Unique which is a white wax like substance. I used it just like Bronco showed me and I must say, I burned through an entire folgers 28oz coffee can (those plastic ones) so that is about 400-600 or so rounds I think. No issues at all. MAYBE I did something wrong. It was pretty easy to use. There were about 20 or so that felt bad, so I stopped, backed out, and rubbed them again and put them back in. No stuck cases and all went pretty good. AND, that stuff is BARELY used now. AND, my left hand smelt nice. Apparently this stuff is also good on boots too... Now I just need to trim the brass and I will be ready to load. I do not know though that I did it right or wrong though, I noticed that most shells were about 1.748 or something like that and then after sizing them they were more like 1.763 or whatever. My point is that they all seemed to get a bit longer after resizing them but all the dents and stuff popped right out of the case mouths. I set the RCBS Die up like the directions said to so apparently they should not grow much longer after the trimming and firing.

I do NOT need to go any farther. I am gonna sell off ALL my other case lube that I have. The RCBS, the dillon, WHATEVER; This wax stuff is the BEST EVER...

    This stuff:

Hornady Unique comes in a plastic white tub and I got it from *** Pro Shop in Rancho Cucamonga for around $7.00.

    THIS stuff is AWESOME.

Funny, I thought that too when I looked. Must be the MACRO mode makes all things look bigger. Those ARE .223 though. My X-Die is only in .223.

Hmmm, I will BRB, I wanna photo something else and see how much bigger it looks...

I beg to differ - the lanolin/alcohol homebrew case lube is the best!

+1. 99% iso evaporates the fastest; if you have trouble finding it, Walgreens' pharmacy section can order it.

That Unique is good stuff. I had some of it once. Think I gave it away to a newbie. Ifin I recall the Redding guys told me they thought it was simply mink oil. Might explain why it is good on boots too. Been meaning to mix up and try some of the home brew but always so dang busy. Lots of lubes work I knew a guy that did commercial case prep that used vegetable oil. Perhaps some EVOO and give the brass a toss with some salad

I've only used the dillon case lube. Haven't had any issues and it seems like it will last forever. Am I missing something?

It's normal for your cases to grow a little after resizing. That's why you trim after resizing and not before. Once they get above 1.76 they should be trimmed back to 1.75.

I have a tin of mink oil to use after I finish up with my Imp Wax. (the tin of mink oil looks like and smells just like the imp wax)

Where are you guys buying your lanolin from?

amazon though I have heard that you can get it from some health food stores.

also I used "ISO HEET" from the local auto parts store for the alcohol.

hilarious. That exact link in amazon says "frequently bought together: with 99% isopropyl alcohol...."
