    Good grief....

    Let's see....

Very first round... Seated primer... umm... no I didn't... WTF? Had the primer half in half out. Couldn't remove the case holder. Got on the internet. Seems I'm not the first. My handle was hitting the edge of my bench in the up position.

The old "Forget to turn the hopper off before removing it." Ummm... more than once...

Oiled a couple of linkages in my Auto Disc. DON'T DO THAT! Oil got into the powder path and eventually caused random "almost zero" and "almost double" charges. Luckily I caught it early (I visually noticed the uneven powder levels) & only had to disassemble about 30 rounds. CHECK YOUR POWDER PATH OFTEN.

Slide the primer tray out of the sleeve... upside down.

    Let the hopper run empty.

I ended up with a nice blister on my palm after resizing and priming 500 or so cases on my single stage press.

went shooting trap with my oldest son, he pulls the trigger and I hear poof not bang! He calls for another PULL! I yell STOP!!! he points the gun down and shot runs out on the ground.

I guess I missed powder for that one

Its funny because I always wondered what the long rods were that were hung on the scorers tower, now I know

Forgot the first time I loaded on my RCBS piggyback, you need to make sure the powder hopper is tight. I'm loading away with X700 for a 9MM load, I had done checks every 15 or so and the drops were fine. I guess after about 50 the Uniflow came loose. I checked a powder drop and there was no powder. They all dropped into a bin so I had to pull all of them because I didn't know when it quit dropping powder.

Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

The old Mec reloader we had would drop powder and shot weather you had something there to catch it or not. We kept used hulls on the counter to put in place if you were just running one case, or the beginning/end of a batch. It was not a rare occurrence therefor for us to make powerless loads, but the shot always came out the other end.

Poof, then wssssssssshhhh as the shot rain hit the trap house roof.

My first venture into reloading, I loaded about 100 rounds of 308 without overcamming on the resize. None of them ever fully chambered or fired because the shoulders were still all blown out. Had to pull all of them after I figured out my resizing die wasn't screwed down far enough.

I did use it as an excuse to buy a remington 700 to use as an expensive case gauge though, so everything worked out in the end.

That's the best argument ever. It's like an instant $50 off. I almost bought a .45-70 because I came into 100 cases of new starline brass but that doesn't compare to the brilliance of "what honey, it's just a case gauge."

                        Well

I was pulling out my PW press from under the desk

I pulled by the shell holder with my thumb across the shell holder

The press handle fell and the decapper punched through my finger nail and pinned my thumb to the press

I remained calm and lifted up the handle before removing my thumb

Since I now had a hole in my nail, the blood had somewhere to go and it grew out after about 7 months

                        owwww

Oh yeah...that too. Then staring at the pouring powder for a second or two and thinking "wtf?"...before turning the knob...

I had sized/decapped/belled brass in my finished cartridge bin on my XL650.

Was pulling from there and inserting into station 2 for primer and powder charge then on to bullet seating and crimp.

Turns out a couple spent primers fell into the finished cartridge bin and into one of the open pieces of brass. Didn't notice and charged it with powder.

Went to check weight and saw spent primer parts. FML

You guys! Learn to single charge your brass, use a reloading block, visually check EVERY round (double and 1/2 or 0 charges are VERY obvious this way) then add the bullets. Skip learning to load on a progressive. go get a "lee loader" (if they can be found now days?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeEl9wZyabc SLOW DOWN! Reloading should not be rushed. I've had a few too deep (setting up dies) I've spilled a little powder and primers on the floor, I've even put primers in backwards. But they were never put in a gun. Worst mistake I had was making 15 rounds (and 100 cases) of 300 blk brass too long. Never trust just 1 source of info while reloading!

I have been loading for 30+ years, for 25 of those years I never even seen a progressive or a turret press in use. So I would say have have learned to single charge my loads.

I just ended up with a free RCBS piggyback that was the first time I had loaded on it.

as for the shotgun that was also the only time I had an issue.
