It's been 4 days now and not a word, should we be worried?/2Comment

Hey Duck, your telephone is ringing....I don't want to tell his story, but there is nothing to worry about, he's a busy guy. But when he comes back on, pay particular attention the charge weights he is using and the lack of any real pressure signs.

Load data
Sorry guys....my chrono wasnt reading my loads due to the lack of flash hider or compensator.
I have just finished machining a sweet looking muzzle brake out of Beta C titanium (damn i forgot how much of a pain this is to machine), hopefully this will help my chrono read my velocity.
I'm off to the range tomorrow and i will return with data.......i think.....Comment

load data
Ohh yes..my loads of 48g AA1680 yielded low-medium low pressure signs, in fact the primer flattening was so slight it was hard to make a call on the pressure signs between the two.
Anyway i have increased the crimp slightly and loaded up the same test.
46g
47g
48g (compressed with the factory bullet)
When i have some firm data i will take some pics of my cases for you all to see.

I am tired of the drop and thunk test, are there any case gauges out there. What are the dimensions of the chamber?Comment
-
Yep, Dave Manson Reamers (Loon Lake ph 810-953-0732) makes all the gages/reamers etc. and will supply all of the specs on the case and chamber. Dave makes the best and I wouldn't go anywhere else for those types of services, in this or for any other cartridge.
WHAT 48GR OF 1680! Say it ain't so
! And this with no real pressure signs, and they said it couldn't happen...good go 'ol boy.

Duck,
My home phone system is down, until Ma-Bell can come out, and out here in the Bush the cells don't work very well. Yesterday my Buddy and I blew a hole into the heavy veldt around here (Which probably accounts for the telephone, guess the excavator won out over the little phone line, Huh?) and now I have a sweet little 200yd range just outside of my new shop, where incidentally, just tonight, we watched two smaller white tail bucks (4&6 points) lay down many new scrapes along the edge of the range, chase the does around, and then fought each other. Holy cow! I couldn’t have done better if I’d have tied them up on the berm!
Ok, I’ve got a future 450 Bushmaster story for you awl. Then you guys are going to have to tell me which bullet to use, I'm thinking of something with a Hugh hollow-point, to act as a reservoir for the Barbeque Sauce and just what kind of Barbeque Sauce do we use, well, Bulls-Eye Brand, of course! But I digress some. We have a serious gene pool for big bucks out here on the farm. My new wife talked me into moving 45 miles to her home, out here in central Michigan, in the middle of Deer-Central-Station, right. Now, she tells me this big buck story, of how people would knock on her door 911 style and demand to hunt here or to get a picture of her monster buck (We’ve got great cover for the deer, plenty of food and water and a couple dozen apple trees, does this sound like deer magnet country to you or what?). Well, I was a professional hunter for a lot of years all over North America including Alaska and one big buck story sounds like the other, right. Except, one day she takes me to a little restaurant where the Hole-in the Horn buck is on display (http://whitetail.com/holehorn.html), I of course recognize the monster and say to her, pointing to the mount...“what do you think of that”? Now mind you, she doesn’t know anything really about deer, except she likes to go out in the evening to watch them, and she says…“oh that’s a pretty nice deer”…pretty nice? So like a curious dummy I ask her what does she mean by “pretty nice”? And she says.. “well, my deer is bigger than that”…go figure. I haven’t seen anything like that yet, but the neighbors all tell the same stories, all of the Monster kind and plenty of them…

If there was enough interest, I would purchase the reamer and headspace gauges to be able to make some chamber gauges for you guys.
I need to know that all the tooling costs are covered before I would commit to ordering the tooling though.Randall Rausch

450 B in action.
I shot a Tactical Rifle match the other day with the 450, 80 plus rounds using 250gr flat points and 39.2grs of H110. My shoulder is a little bruised today!
