48g (compressed with the factory bullet)

When i have some firm data i will take some pics of my cases for you all to see.

P.S Wildcatter i have left a voice message on your phone, i will try again later.
What type of case are you using? Hornady's with the small rifle?

          Data at last!!!!!!

O.K, first things first. please pay respect for all the cases and projectiles that were sacrificed to bring you this data

Lets get down to the nitty gritty.........

          Round info:
taper crimp diameter at the case mouth was .472
          AA1680 powder
          240g XTP mag bullets
Hornady case with small rifle primer
CCI 450 small rifle mag primers
OAL 2.130" (case mouth just below the cannelure)

          Results:
          45g = 2202 fps. NO pressure signs
46g = 2287 fps. NO pressure signs (case is sealing well at this point)
          47g = 2367 fps. NO pressure signs
48g = 2404 fps. ABSOLUTLY NO PRESSURE SIGNS (accuracy is 1MOA)
NO feeding or extracting problems at all!!!

After returning home i drilled out the primer pocket, seated a 240 XTP to an overall length of 2.130. I then filled the case (AA1680)to the bottom of the primer hole which held 50g of powder, this would be an uncompressed load.

Now, when i used my bullet puller (hammer type) to remove the bullet it broke lose from the case very easily, i then sized the case once again and seated the bullet so the case mouth was over the cannelure (2.080" OAL) and then taper crimped the case, i then proceeded to pull the bullet with the hammer this time it took 4 good hits from the hammer to dislodge the bullet rather than one hit.
I then reseated the bullet and measured the case capacity which was 48.5g of AA1680 with a 2.080" OAL.

Next weekend i will try the following:
          240 XTP.
          AA1680.
          2.130 OAL.
          49g of powder.
          50g of powder.
more taper crimp (.465 diameter at the case mouth)

2.080 OAL (crimping into the cannelure)
          48.5g of powder
.465 diameter taper crimp, this should increase case pressure and velocity due to the higher bullet pull amount.

i will let you all know the results as soon as i can.

          Mike

I used to like Duck hunting, now I’m afraid to go into the swamps… The Duck shoots back and ‘ol Mr. Duck ain’t-ah-play’en.

Way to go Duck! Looks like you’ll be in the 2500fps area with that Hornady bullet sporting your 20” Barreled 450b before too long, which will put you at 3330.1 ft-lbs/energy and is well more than the venerable 300 win mag 20” barrel, with its 180gr factory load, yielding 3177.9 ft-lbs/energy (220gr out of a 20”barrel is 3052.6 ft-lbs, estimated; that big Winchester case is running out of steam with the heavier bullets, where as the 450b is.. “Just leaning out the jets”, so-to-speak.. {Can’t help the expression 35.6yrs with GM-what can I say eah?} with this weight; i.e. 220/240gr), and nipping at the heels of the North American Monster Killer, the 338 win mag in a 20” barrel @ 3580.8 ft-lbs/energy (factory 250gr load). Keep up the great work, Duck.

And how 'bout those Bushmaster Guys, can they build a rifle or what!!! One MOA and BETTER (With a 45 pistol caliber bullet??? who’d a thunk it?) is getting to be their standard, and who were “they” that doubted? You guys should give Bushy a call and a hearty “at-a-boy" or better yet, continue to buy and recommend their products to others...

Foot pounds energy, all factory loadings, except the 450b and sporting a 20” barrel…

            300wm-180gr`````300wm-220gr`````450b-240gr`````338wm-250gr
            3177.9 ft/lbs``````3052.6 ft/lbs`````3330.1 ft/lbs````3580.8 ft/lbs

Care to wager where all this is going? I bet it’ll be north of the 338 or even north of the 375HH or even north of… Just keep in mind that you are risking a bolt ($60). I personally have not broken one yet, nor know of anyone else who has, in either the 450b or the 45 Professional, even though you may. I don't believe (from reports) the other big bore AR’s on-the-market can’t make this statement. The broken bolts I have seen were from the 223 loading and nothing else gets hurt in the action. A lug breaks and the rifle just quits functioning, replace the bolt and continue shooting (your results could be different), and safety is always your top consideration (you can get hurt doing this stuff, of course you can get hurt in your easy chair too and there are some of us who just ought to stay on the porch), after all, with this load development, you are hovering in the twilight zone, so just be careful and go slow and your load developments will astound those of faint hearts, those afraid to run with the Big Dogs. It was always you guys who showed all the rest of us, the way to a bigger and better world.

For GOD's sake "VOTE TOMMORROW"!!! Tell me that did and I'll send you some new bullets we are just now making (only if Obama doesn't band them first), dedicated specifically for the 450 Bushmaster, as pure unadulterated KILL bullets, anything/anywhere, planet wide, no excuses, period, when they get out of the R&D stage. Tell me that you took a friend and I’ll send even more!

Hey! Just a thought here, my cogs are turning! Assuming we do our part and McCain gets in (which we better do if we want to keep our guns)…Just consider, there are now 12,438 readers of this thread and I have a very good friend who knows Sarah Palin personally, who can and does call her up regularly. Now, what if we were all to donate one dollar to a special fund that we, of this thread, set up, build a custom 450 Bushmaster rifle for that most excellent Moose Hunter SARAH PALIN, with a custom made box of "2012" rounds of ammunition sporting those new KILL BULLETS, any money left over could be donated to say the NRA-ILA, CALGUNS.NET, Sarah's Election Fund or others, your decision??? I'd do my part at zero mark-up as well as donating a dollar. We could call it the PALIN 2012 FUND...HMMM…Just a thought here...

For you guys that tried and voted, I thank you and I’m sure your vote was not in vain. Keep posting that you voted and whether or not you took someone, for I’ll be sending you some bullets, that is, when we finalize the production goodies. After about a week or so of posting that you voted, so everyone can see the number of guys that did, I’ll announce that you should Private Message me with your addresses so I can ship the Kill Bullet to you, again, after the R&D is done.

No, I can’t tell you any other details about the Kill Bullet (you know-patent stuff), other than its coming and that you will absolutely be astounded at the terminal performance it will deliver.

Hello y'all; dang certain I voted yesterday, took my boss ,too.Around 8am,you couldn't get near my precinct,it looked like all us Southern Bubba boys had come out for a big BBq.
We went back at 3 pm,walked right in,did the deed, and boogied out.
Needless to say,we were in mourning that Brother John and Mizz Sarah didn't get elected, but lets look forward to 2012,and Sarah for pres.
Hell,if an unknown like ob can buy it,there is hope.Keep making more home brewed ammo, brothers,I really have benefited from your research, and the stories are great, too.
Gotta get some range time with my 450.Best regards,Dave

                              I voted.
I don't have anyone to take though.

All my co-workers voted too, but they didn't vote for McCain.
