Do you have different settings for audio? I have a Marantz on 5 speakers and I usually have it set on Movie as it sounds better than the other settings.

I have different settings available, but I'm talking about a pure difference in volume.

It's a major pain because I have to turn it up for the movie, but either mute it or turn it down when pausing or exiting because the "bleeps" from the Wii are deafening if the movie is at a comfortable level.

I hoped that it was an issue with Wii's streaming video output, but it's the same problem on the BluRay.

I used to use my PS3, but in the last year have gotten two Tivo Premieres now I stream from those, just easier.

Note though that the PS3 lets you search for movies, the Tivo will only let you watch movies in your instant queue, which isn't a huge deal if you have a laptop handy anyway.

I use a Roku, Wii, and Xbox 360 for Netflix. All are wireless and I have never had a problem with any of them. The Roku box is great. Its really small and a good deal at $59. Its perfect for an area where you don't already have another device hooked up (bedroom). The only down side is that it really is only good for Netflix, not much else you can do with it.

I have been very happy with the Roku box - http://www.roku.com/. We have several at our house and we bought one for my 80 year old mother-in-law, and she uses it daily and likes it, too.

It will also play Amazon video-on-demand and from other video sources (not any video source - it's not a web browser, doesn't get YouTube).

We use Roku and are very pleased with it. And yes, it does stream YouTube. That and about 202 other channels, a few of them even good.

I have the Netflix capability in my Wi-Fi enabled Blu-ray player, but unfortunately the router and the Blu-ray are at opposite ends of the house and the Blu-ray cannot pick-up the wi-fi signal. I just ordered an 85Mbps Netgear Powerline adapter kit: http://netgear.com/home/products/pow.../XETB1001.aspx so I can run the signal from the router through the electricity lines to the Blu-ray player. Anyone have any experience with using a powerline network adapter for this purpose? I'm just wondering how well this will work for viewing Netflix movies.

You wasted your money on that kit, in order for it to work the lines need to be on the same circuit. You should have just bought a wireless repeater.

The best option for Netflix IMO is the Roku box. Its cheap, streams 1080P via HDMI, 5.1 audio as soon as Netflix starts streaming more of it, and best of all it does HUNDREDS of other things via its constantly added to and updated channels.

That being said I own and also use to stream netflix, a Roku, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and computers both Mac and PC. So I have a unique advantage to test out almost all the formats available. I dont find any one better than the other, however if I were looking for a netflix specific box and wasnt that into playing video games, the Roku would be a no brainer. For $69 free shipping no tax from Amazon, you really cant go wrong.

Base model does not do 1080p.
Even though it runs HDMI, it's only native resolutions are 480p and 720p.
The $80 unit does 480p, 720p, and 1080p, as does the $100 unit.

If your TV does not have HDMI, then you must go with the $100 unit plus buy the component adapter cable... and even then you're limited to 720p

For some reason, the Roku doesn't do interlaced other than the 480i composite video output. That sucks, because if you are running an older TV with component-only, 720p will not fill your screen.

I really looked at these units and that's why I decided to simply upgrade my BluRay player. The Sony BDP-S570 is only $180 at Wal Mart, or you can get it online from Sam's Club for $150 (BDP-BX57, identical unit but they change the model so Best Buy and WalMart don't have to price-match).
These BluRay players are 3D capable, have internal WiFi, 1 gig of internal memory for BD-Live, support the iPhone/iTouch remote controls, and they'll support 1080i over component for those of us still living in 2003

Drawback, like Tivo, they appear to only be able to view your Netflix instant queue... but I always found browsing Netflix to be a chore on the Wii and don't mind using the PC for that.

Roku $100 XL box and regret it. No on/off switch so when it hangs on start up you have to manually unplug it to reboot it. What idjit engineer designs an electronic box with no on/off you can control with the remote?

NetFlix, lame C rated movie selections as noted before. You can dig through all those other channels they have and maybe find one worth watching.

I went back to DTV after missing shows I wanted to watch on History Channel, Military Channel, NatGeo, Versus, etc.

Who wants to buy my Roku?
