Wireless can easily be saturated. With cable modems regularly going 3+ mbps, a couple computers on the internet and a Netflix client could easily max out a wireless connection.

The other issue with wireless is latency. If there is a lot of wireless traffic in addition to the internet traffic, there could easily be bandwidth and latency issues.

    A wire is ALWAYS better.

None of this is an issue in 99% of households. Latency only effects how long it takes to start buffering and you would have to be transfering files over the wireless to a computer on the local network to saturate the wireless bandwidth since the cable modem is not going to max out a 54Mbit connection, no matter how many people are surfing the web over it. A wired connection is better mostly from a security standpoint unless you're talking over long distances (where latency becomes an issue).

            PS3

Blue Ray Player - for all your cool movies

Games - for Call of Duty (Black Ops)

Netflix - for Spartacus series, it's like 300, Gladiator, and soft porn all in one. Worth the price of admission alone.

Ever hear of QoS? It solves this problem.

Run a Apple TV or Roku over WiFi then run it on the LAN and tell me that the user experience is not far better with the wire. It is. WiFi works but wired works better. If you cant run a wire then use WiFi...but use a wire when possible.

The one above as well as Costco's can either do wireless or hardwire; I'm guessing hardwire would be best because it would likely be faster?

                        Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks guys, you just cost me another $190 for a BDP-S570.

Would have been $155, but I was too impatient to wait for Sam's to ship the BDP-BX57.
Best Buy had them for $220.

I guess I could have lived with the Sam's BX37, since I don't need WiFi and don't feel that 3D is ready for prime time, but I figured for the extra $80 I may as well get the 570.

Got it activated and reprogrammed the Harmony remote. Totally painless.

My only beef with Netflix is that the sound level is VERY low. I normally run the Onkyo receiver in the high 30s, but with Netflix, both on the Wii and the BluRay, I've got it up at 50. Need to remember to turn it down before switching back to DTV.

Do you have different settings for audio? I have a Marantz on 5 speakers and I usually have it set on Movie as it sounds better than the other settings.
Even the Superbowl was better on Movie than the Game setting.

I'll have to examine that the next time we do Netflix wireless and see if a difference.

We use Roku, and while the box is neat, I find Netflix to suck. It seems to carry a bunch of C rates movies.

doesn't help when the movie companies first off delay giving netflix any new releases for 28 days, and 2nd, netflix doesn't load all the movies onto streaming.

but now that they are changing over the streaming as the main thing, it will change. cause i only have the streaming service, no dvd/blu-ray since it cost extra.
