Wii here, but the Wii doesn't do High-Def, so we still "rent" BluRay by mail every now and then.

Had the thing for well over a year and we've never played a single game on the Wii.

That's actually not a good thing. I bought the thing because my wife insisted on a Wii-Fit for Christmas.

We use the Panasonic DMP BD85 blue ray player with wifes Verizon wireless.
The player came with a little wirless gizmo that plugs into the front and searches for wifi. The player came with the NetFlix app as well as a few others, the WalMart one is in there as is Pandora.

We tried the WII but it seems as if it was too cartoonish(?) as in weak definition.

TV is a Samsung 42 inch plasma.

Netflix is great, we get movies in the mail and on occasion we watch the wirless. Download pause a few times throughout the movie though.

I would recommend setting up a cheap computer as a media PC... it'll get everything you want done. You can use netflix, as well as downloads on it.

The Roku boxes are nice. We have one of them and a Apple TV 2nd gen, I get the most use out of the Roku.

If cost is a concern you won't go wrong with a Roku. I recommend the PS3 personally. It is one of the better Blu-ray players on the market and it upscales standard def content better than anything else I've used. HULU looks better on my PS3 than on my PC.

Even wireless G (54Mbps) is faster than a home internet connection, it really does not matter if you use wireless or an ethernet connection.

You should put down the crack pipe, there are tons of games on the PS3.

In theory, yes, but in practice running fast ethernet can provide a better experience then G. Both my Apple TV and Roku work fine over my wireless network but both work better on the LAN. I would agree though that if you don't have a very fast internet connection that the difference between the two might not be that great.

Only problem with the Roku is you have to get the $100 model to get a component video out, and it only supports up to 720p on component.
1080i is only available on it's HDMI port, and my old Sony DLP doesn't have HDMI (It'll do 1080i over component).

I was "this far" from getting one when I discovered that... I'll need a new receiver that does upconversion to get the signal into my TV... and if I'm going to do that, I can get Netflix built into the receiver.

But cheaper than a new receiver, I can just replace my BluRay player with one that does Netflix.

I see. It sounds like a new TV is in order then.

                                It is in the plans.

New TV can handle the video issue since it'll take multiple HDMI directly, but digital audio inputs to the amp are still a problem., but if I add one more device, I'll need a new receiver even with the new TV because my digital audio inputs are maxed out.

So for $200, I'm just going to upgrade my BluRay.
