ETA: There's a link on that page to get a refurbished unit for $25.

The Powerline kit arrived today, and within 10 minutes I was watching a Netflix movie, so I guess all the mains is on the same circuit. I'm just happy to get it up and running.

After reading this thread, I've persuaded my wife we need a Roku for the bedroom.

i use my Xbox 360 and Wii to stream Netflix. My bluray player has the capability to do it but it's not wireless and requires a hard connection to an ethernet cord.

I have a desktop computer hooked up to every TV in the house via DVI to HDMI cables. Media Center is a great, no amazing, remote friendly way of browsing your media and it is included with Windows Vista and Windows 7. While the windows remote is perfect 99.99999999% of the time, I also have a keyboard and mouse hooked up to them.

There is a Netflix plugin for Media Center that works great, or you can just use internet explorer.

The Hulu plugin is not as great, but it works pretty darn good.

That said I rarely need to use either. I have over 2000 movies and TV shows on my 8TB or harddrive space on the computer in the main room. All encoded with Divx. As new episodes of my favorite shows are released they get recorded, compressed, and then moved into the appropriate folder.

A plugin called Media Browser makes them not only easy to navigate by Genre, Actor, Director, etc. but also displays cover art, backgrounds, etc.

No more searching through giant DVD books and trying to guess which movie is which based on the DVD art. Everything is sorted so I can find it, and a summery of the movie is right there for me to read so I can make sure I want to watch it.

I could go on and on about how great this setup is, but you really need to see it and use it for a while to get how cool it is.

I use a Custom PC for my TV. The cable cord goes into it and Windows Medca Center Acts like a Tivo. Then we also have Netflix on the internet browser as well as Hulu. Its great. We use an HDMI cable through our Haupagge TV tuner.

Umm, then what are all of those game cases that say "PS3" on them sitting next to my 360 games? Oh right, they're games.

This is what I did on all my tv's but with different video cards and TV cards. Not saying mine are better, just different.

Not only is it great for media but also great for gaming. Can watch my entire movie and tv collection in any room in the house. Same goes with listening to music or audio books. Plus I can play any game in any room of the house...or if I wanted to I could have my own little tournament on my own lan (never done that though).

If you have not done so already check out the Media Browser plugin for Media Center. It has a tone of features that you don't get just using the built-in Video Library.

This is the plugin that adds all kinds new features...http://www.mediabrowser.tv/

This is the software that gathers all the pictures, backgrounds, and text information about your movie collection...http://www.mediacentermaster.com/

Both are free. The later takes a while to learn how to use and setup properly. But it is a must have if you are running Media Browser.

I think he's saying that he doesn't own any games for the PS3.

Like the only games that I own for the Wii are Cabela's big game hunter and the Wii-Fit package that my wife hasn't opened in 2 years.

Maybe, but it sounds like the 360 vs ps3 nonsense.

Except he's got one.... he's not a 360 owner who hasn't been closer to a PS3 than the 360 isle at Best Buy

I'd still return it and get some real networking gear, those powerline kits are not known for reliability.

I'd personally agree, ethernet is cheap and easy to run.
