So what does mercedes or formula 1 use for firearms then? Very curious, ill order some with our unit fund if its not already on an nsn.

I've used slip2000 for a while and never had the need to use anything else.

^ This. These products are designed to protect metal to metal contact with close tolerances and high heat, far exceeding the needs of a firearm. What could be better?

Exactly, why would you ever want anything more than synthetic grease? It was designed to meet extremely high temps and be viable in conditions far beyond anything. I love companies that market all this silly oil stuff to gun owners. What a giant scam.

Synthetic grease cut with some motor oil when it needs to be thinner. Oil is useless on a gun in most forms sold with "firearm" specific use. It just is too thin and runs away, killing your stock and the bottom of your safe.

I do use breakfree CLP but only because I load it into a pen oiler to keep handy. Motor grease/oil is absolutely 100% the way to go.

Another year later, I still have no issues with FL. Also, I have no surface rust on anything. It lasts for a long time and smells good. Its nice to use on carry guns, no smell, no stains on clothing. Personally I don't like motor oil stains on my shirts. To each their own, but I find it funny that people seem to get so outraged about this product. OP, did it actually "dry out" or was it just cold in your safe? The stuff is thick when it's cold, but you only notice if you over apply it. I've never done the heating up application, I just pour some of it on a rag and rub a light coat on anything I can get to. I suppose if you put a lot on and it got cold, a simple hairdryer would melt it back down.

I've never seen a post anywhere about Mil-Comm TW-25 or Militec-1 disabling a firearm. Any product that can make my gun inoperable is a no-go for me. The "all you have to do is heat it up" crowd literally blows my mind.

Anybody that needs to heat FL to make their gun operable is not using it correctly. You use the paste with heat for initial treatment, then use the grease for lube. On the initial treatment you let the metal cool and wipe off the excess.

I did an initial treatment on my XDs yesterday, and also cleaned and lubed two AK's. It was cold out in the garage and guess what? All the guns I pulled out of the safe treated with FL cycled like they are supposed to. The grease will not harden when it gets cold.

I have many different kinds of lubes in my gun cabinet that I have collected over the years, and so far FL has worked well for me. I have no problem with Break-Free (Still have at least a dozen cans), other than it being a sand magnet when I was in the ME. Use what works for you.

The only problem with too much CLP is it collects more grime during shooting.
Bottom line excessive CLP wont hurt...

The only problem with too much Frog Lube is an inoperable weapon that slides out of your hand once your hair dryer heats it up.

YOU REALLY NEED A MANUAL TO LUBE YOUR FIREARM?!?!?!?!?

Whats funny is how expensive it is and the "MANUAL" says to wipe off the excess...think...HARD...

ive never had a problem with froglube, and i use it fairly liberally... to the point it gets a little splattery while shooting...

for the rails, i use heavy (red) slide glide. everything else gets the FL paste and i clean the bore with the liquid... always have a few microfiber cloths in the safe to wipe down the guns with FL after handling
