I shoot a 6" 686, a Springfield 1911, a 92F, a G17 and G19, a Ruger MkII 8" Target and a Walther P38. Of them all, the Ruger and 686 are the most accurate. The G17 and G19 are great shooters and have NEVER failed but their accuracy is at the lower end of the scale. If I had a CCW, I'd definitely pick up a G26 just because of the simplicity of the Glock. No safety, no SA/DA, no need to thumb the hammer and it's lighter and more concealable than any revolver.

No hate for anything I've ever shot except this silly little .22 Mag Davis derringer I inherited... so small, I can't thumb the hammer with the hand I'm holding the gun with.

I was recently informed that I am a "Glock hater", because I am not interested in buying a Glock, but am looking for another CZ.

This came as a surprise to me, as I used to own two Glocks, and still own one - my 21 was stolen, and I chose not to replace it, since I couldn't replace the standard cap mags that made it a preferred HD option to a 1911 (13+1 vs 7+1 when I bought it was a significant factor in favor of the G21, but the current 10+1 vs 8+1 isn't that great a difference). I still have my 20, because no other affordable 10mm is as reliable.

I'm not a fan of the ergonomics, and don't recommend them to people (other than for the 10mm), but certainly don't "bash" Glocks, since I know that other people find them more comfortable than I do. They are a durable firearm that generally costs a bit less than models I prefer, but they lack some features that I value in a semi-auto firearm, like an exposed hammer, and a safety.

What I've noticed is that some (many?) Glock "fanboiz" try to turn it into a "If you don't love Glocks, you're a Glock hater" thing.

btw - I also choose my sneakers for fit and comfort, rather than the name on the side.

Why does it seem like people who hate glocks or hate on glocks are people who never owned one?

Did it ever occur to you that the reason they might not own one is because they fired a friend's or a rental gun, and didn't like it?
Maybe it felt so uncomfortable in the shop that they never even wanted to fire it.

If they don't like the way they look and feel in the gun shop, or when they fired one at the range, why would they buy one?

How can you hate a gun that has not failed in 15 years? The Glock's I have bought are so reliable, i just keep buying more.

Why would you buy something you don't like? That's like asking why it seems all the people that aren't into gay sex have never tried it.

The OP's not even talking about trying one out, he's making the ridiculous claim that unless you OWN one, you can't have an opinion that differs form his.

However on a serious note I appreciate everyones insight on the matter. Its personal preference. Understood. People just like to bash on each other. Gun owners are passionate people. Gun owners are competitive people. I was just a bit curious that was all. Im not a glock only guy i would love the chance to get me a colt 1911 cz even sig pistol sometime down the line. I have owned an XD40. I prefer the glock. "Personal preference" okay got it.

I avoid these kinds of conversations unless someone is being a complete azzhat about it.

My take on it: If it puts rounds on / in your target, then who gives a flying flip what put them there? Buy what feels right in your hand and go shoot it.

I own more than one Glock and more than one of other brands, too.

I own Springfield 1911's, M9's, Walthers, Kahr, Taurus, and Glock (a bunch) pistols.

Of them, the Glocks perform the best for me.

Other brands / types may suit other shooters better...and that is fine with me. I won't hate on you, if you're on the line next to me shooting something different. I'll usually ask to give it a go.

I see where some say that 'brand x' is best. We all have different metrics, by which we judge these things.

Personally, I've never had a hiccup with my Glocks. My personal favorite is a gen 3 model 17, RTF frame gun. I average 2000 rds / mo with that gun, over the last 5 yrs or so. Not one hiccup in all that time.

Personally, I place reliability at the top of the scale. Glocks perform.

On a side note, I do get to see many other shooters. From my observation, the majority of failures experienced with any striker fired gun (glock, m&p, xd) are operator induced, and not the fault of the gun.

I have a Glock for USPSA and an M&P, both in 9mm. They are great guns!

I have a lot of high-end guns comprised of various 1911s, SIG Sauers, HKs, Smith & Colt revolvers, the works.

But the guns outside of the safe, for home defense, on trips, or concealed, are my 1st Generation Glock 19s (plural) and Glock 26s (plural).

I'm in the same boat. I have Les Baers, Kimbers, HKs, S&W revolvers, Brownings, Sigs, etc.

The gun I carry daily is a Glock 23 and the gun I use for HD is a Glock 35. I recently went through 6 states on a family roadtrip and the two Glock's came with us. The rest stayed in the safe at home. I have a HK SP2000 and a Kimber Gold Combat on my permit and those stayed home.

Glock's are relatively cheap, reliable, and with enough training they're accurate. I used to be a highend 1911 snob and would only carry full size 1911's. That lasted a few years and I decided to try out the Glock 23. Hated it and rarely trained with it at first because of the grip angle and the trigger. However, I decided to put my bias aside and give it a chance. The sear reset on the trigger is awesome and I can shoot the guns fast and accurate these days. Still love the 1911's, but going through several training courses putting 500 rds down range with my 1911's and Glock's. The Glock's never malfunctioned, where as my nice 1911's started acting up after 300 rounds. I've trained with about a dozen CCW holders regularly and the 1911's tend to malfunction about mid-day thru the courses. Same goes for Sig, Kahr's, Beretta's, etc. Surprisingly the Ruger semi-autos are fairly reliable as well.

I personally don't have anything bad to say about glocks its personal preference. I just hate the way they look, feel and shoot. Other then that they are good guns.

I don't hate them, but I do hate their insatiable need to convert everybody else in the world to their particular choice in guns..... I mean religions.

The same could be said of 1911 haters, Sig haters, CZ haters, etc, etc.
Fact is people are basically insecure and need to validate their choice of a personally owned firearm, the easiest way to to that is to bash other types of firearms.

When Glocks first came out I rented one at an indoor range. I did not like the feel of it and I didn't shoot it well. I rented a 1911 the same day and really liked the way it fit my hand and I liked where it put rounds on target.

I have never had animosity towards Glocks and youll never find me in a thread bashing them. Im glad some people enjoy them. Im glad there are guns out there for all tastes. It is good for the hobby.

Im not insecure and the only validation any of my firearms need, is that I like it and it functions well.

Same reason I like Chevy's...
