To each their own. Some people just get weird about these things. I like Glocks because they're simple, but I have discovered that they can be quickly turned into pieces of **** by sticking a bunch of aftermarket crap on them, which is probably the same kind of person that would actually have the kind of emotional responses that are in question here.

Glocks are like Remingtons, everyone thinks they gotta have one.

I'll take Paul Barret's research on the company of Glock over one police agency's internal test. That company literally gave away their guns to LE agencies in exchange for the police's old guns, who Glock later sold on the used market.

I can understand ergonomics in a gun but it seems to me there are too many people complaining that the glock is ugly. Since when does a mature gun owner make such a big deal on the looks of a weapon on equal basis as the operation? I'm not supporting or defending Glocks, It just bugs me that the look of the gun appeals so much to people. It reminds me of a certain politician who tends make decisions on banning them based off of some pictures.

It helps to keep in mind that Calguns isn't a fighting forum. The vast majority of the people here don't look at their handguns as tools, but as a hobby or sport with the secondary benefit of home defense.

If you spend any time on forums that are more fighting orientated, where the members of the forum choose weapons on a proven reputation of reliability, because their lives actually depend on it, you'll typically find Glock at the top of the list.

Eh I used to buy into the hype that Glocks were just a fanboy pistol until I got a Gen 2 G19(made in 1993) a couple months back. After having a a nice 500rd session, I was left pretty impressed. I won't say it is the most accurate pistol compared to my 1911, but it worked well enough for me out to 25yds. All rounds were on target, it pointed extremely well for me, and didn't give me any problems or stoppages.

Is the grip angle different? Yes it is. But if a gun doesn't fit your hand, why complain about it? Just keep looking and find something that does; there is a rather large selection of pistols out there and you are sure to find something that does. Hell, I had to sell my old PPK/S(non S&W) because I just could not get a comfortable grip and had to be sure to bring Band-Aids to the range every time I shot it.

Is it pretty? Absolutely not, but it is a very proletarian type of firearm. There is little in the way of the extraneous on these guns.

Will I say that they are indestructible? Not at all, anything can and will break on anything, and Glocks are no exception. Hell, I broke the frame on G21; had a tab in the rear shear off. I will say that I had bought it as a used rental gun from a local range, so the round count had to be pretty ridiculous. On the flip side, Glock made it right in about a week, and sent me a brand new G21 to replace it. Reliability is one thing, but it's also important to have a company that stands behind their product.

But at the end of the day, it's what works for you and what you can run well on the range. Granted this is just my personal experiences, and I sure others will contend some of the stuff I had said.

I figured that being a gun owner in CA, you inherently need to fight tooth an nail every step of the way for any purpose of owning a gun.

                          01. They are all built off the same basic pattern
                          02. Your shots are all the same trigger pull
                          03. There not metal and some of the Glocks have had issues over time with them. I don't think we will ever see a Glock last 50 years or so, I think it will break down.
                          04. Doesn't have a manual safety, all it takes is a finger to the trigger.
                          ...
                          01. I'd consider that a benefit. Consistency can be a good thing.
                          02. I'd consider that a benefit as well, especially in a defensive situation.
                          03. I see your point here. (Just get a 1911 or something in addition to your Glock.)
                          04. A major benefit if you ask me. The best safety is still between the ears, and with the proper holster, the gun isn't going to go off by itself. The last thing you want is to pull the trigger in a life-and-death situation and realize the safety is still on. This doesn't happen with Glocks.

I'm not a Glock fanboy (don't own any), but not a Glock hater either (I'm considering getting one).

That is one thing i love about glocks. Even with the easy trigger pull of the M9 service pistol, i can unload a glock mag faster than any other pistol I've fired without modifying anything. With some practice of course.

That changes nothing. Subjectively not liking something does not transform it into crap. They shoot fine. Your dislike of the ergonomics, or the looks of them, does not change that.

Glox RULE is as meaningful as they shoot like crap. That's my point. Life's too short to shoot something you dislike, but dumping on them for subjective reasons is as silly as arguing vanilla ice cream "sucks" because you happen to like chocolate.
