I have a lot of high-end guns comprised of various 1911s, SIG Sauers, HKs, Smith & Colt revolvers, the works.

But the guns outside of the safe, for home defense, on trips, or concealed, are my 1st Generation Glock 19s (plural) and Glock 26s (plural).

I don't hate Glocks as a whole. Consider it one of the most reliable semi-auto handguns ever made. LOTS of great aspects to the gun.

But...I absolutely hate the grip on them. To me, they feel like a block of wood trying to pretend it's a Luger. This is why I prefer XDs and M&Ps over Glocks.

But I would trust my life to a Glock if that is all that I had.

Glocks are a middle of the pack firearm. Not the best not the worst. Marketing has made them popular. A cheap functional firearm with lots of accessories.

The first glock I ever shot around 1994-95 felt like I was holding a brick in my hand. I dont remember which model or caliber it was, but it soured me on glocks as the 1911 I shot fit my hands like a glove. Ever since then I have been pretty particular about my pistols.

Fast forward to the January of this year, got a screaming deal on a almost new Gen 3 Glock-17 ($350 with 294 rounds of ammo, it had 206 rounds fired by my buddy). At first I figured I would turn around an sell it for a higher price. Then I took the wife out to shoot it, she liked it and I dont mind it either, but I have a 1911 now so the glock is all my wifes. I guess after having carried an M-9 Brick in the military you get used to larger grips, but even then it isnt bad.

So no hate here, it wont ever be my first or second choice go to gun, but I dont mind owning it.

Fact is people are basically insecure and need to validate their choice of a personally owned firearm, the easiest way to to that is to bash other types of firearms.

Why would you even care about what other people think or talk trash about a gun that fits YOU best? If a Glock is what you shoot best and most comfortable with, it doesn't matter what other people think. Don't be so sensitive.

I used to hate Glocks. The grip just felt weird and uncomfortable.

After having shot one a few times, and learning the proper grip and stance, I now really like it, and I'm more comfortable/accurate shooting the Glock 19 than any other pistol I've tried.

                  I don't shoot pistols a whole lot though. :-)

I have never done any cleaning to my glock other than wiping down the carbon on the tip of barrel and have fired ~1000 rounds. Still shoots great. I have handguns that I like more but for defense I have comfort in the fact I know if I ever need to shoot at someone my glock is going to fire a round when I pull the trigger.

USPSA gun count, 65% STI/SVI wide bodies and 1911 single stacks, Glocks holding around 25%, then the 10 percenter's, everything else. There is a reason why competitive shooters run what they run...

I hate Glocks. They are the gun everyone loves to hate.

Personally, I shoot homeboy style (sideways, and double fisting), and I was led to believe that Glocks were the best for this style of shooting. I can assure you that it is a myth.

For those out there that jump at the first chance to announce to the world that "theirs" is the best, what a boring world we would live in if all we had was only one choice in something. Only one car or truck choice, one handgun choice, ect....
