Why does it seem like people who hate glocks or hate on glocks are people who never owned one? Or hate them so much they get a M&P or an XD (glock copy) and rant on why its way better? Just my two cents.

It's all personal preference. Best way to convert is to take the glock haters to the range or take some defensive handgun courses with them. Put 500 rds down the pipe and see who's gun malfunctions first. Also, compete in accuracy. My Glocks aren't as accurate as my highend 1911's, but I'd hope they wouldn't be. However, I like them better than my Sigs, HK's, Beretta's, etc. Shot the M&P and XD's and they're good guns too. Just not what I've become accustomed too. Nothing wrong with having personal preferences.Comment

The big square grips were the turn off for me but the g23 corrected that.Originally Posted by olhunter View Post

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.ProShooter's

1) Because Glock's "Perfection" mythos is bulls**t. It is a well made handgun built by a company that's very good at hiding their mistakes. Read Paul Barett's book on Glock for details on how they did it. People are amazed the Gen 4s are having issues, not realizing that every new model Glock made besides the 17 had problems out the gate. From G22s choking with WMLs to NYPD G19s failing en masse, a logical individual would conclude that Glock isn't exempt from the laws of mass production.
2) Glock has some major ergonomic issues. Not everyone can shoot them comfortably, including myself. Its no fun running 200 rounds through the gun and then having a sore pointer finger afterwards. I'm of the opinion that if a gun doesn't shoot comfortably for me, then I need to find a different gun. Not send it off to someone's garage to have the grip reduced, modified, etc.
3)Glock's dominance of the LE marketplace is due to timing and cost, not necessarily superior quality. Police agencies report to city governments, who operate on the law of What is Cheapest. Literally , some governments actually have no choice but to buy whatever product costs less and functions the same. With everyone else making metal frame guns in the 1980s , that meant Glock would win LE contracts by just showing up since their guns could be underpriced on account of their low cost to build. If that didn't do it, Glock would then offer a free trade of old guns for their new G22s or G17s. You can't underbid $0- and then Glock would make a profit on selling the old LE trade ins on the backside.
While I have no problem with Glock from a functional aspect, I'd rather spend $550 on a handgun that looks cool and actually fits my hand. While I don't consider myself a hater, I'm quite happy to see Glock's BS "Pefection" marketing con come tumbling down with every Gen 4 model they sell. The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be.
The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

The same could be said of 1911 haters, Sig haters, CZ haters, etc, etc.
Fact is people are basically insecure and need to validate their choice of a personally owned firearm, the easiest way to to that is to bash other types of firearms.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

I own a glock and sold it. I dont hate glock. I just got accustomed to shooting 1911 style frames so pointing a glock I always shot high from a quick draw. Its my first handgun too but shot pistols many years before buying one. But like said, personal preference.Originally posted by GottmitunsIt's not protecting the rights of the 1%, it's IMPOSING new laws because of the 1%.Comment

I don't like Glock's barrels. If I ever get a second Glock I will put in a Lone Wolf, even if I'm not extending the length. This is not because of using lead (I don't) or anything like that, it is because the accuracy is noticeably worse from my experience.

I don't argue. I care for 1911's but I'm not verbal about it.
I like my Glocks, and recently a crusty 1911 guy I know saw me shooting while he was brass scrounging and actually said "ok" when I asked if he wanted to try one out. This is a near 70 yr old guy, retired CDC, used to work at Baur's , taught basic handgun safety there, and never shot a Glock?
He did great on the 21SF, got enthused and agreed to try the 35, again great, and walked away learning something.
His only compliant ? Somehow, the trigger safety pinched his finger tip a couple times! How does that even happen?
Anyway, I don't push my Glock beliefs on people unless they ask nor do I beat up on 1911 or Hi Point folks.Comment

When I first got into shooting I tried XD, M&P, Glock and SigPro 2340. The Sig was head and shoulders above the rest for me so I bought one. I still have it, no problems after 10 years or so and thousands of rounds.
I couldn't stand the Glock grip or the trigger.Internet rule #1:

Why do so many people think that a lot of people hate glock's? Every time this has been brought up the majority of the responses are from glock fans not haters. I don't care for them because they don't fit my hand comfortably, I don't hate them, just don't care for them.Comment
