I will have pictures tonight. As is my understanding, some metal spinner targets were left and the latrine bags werent burnt or buried. I will post pics tonight after I get them. The fire pits needed to be raked down to size as well. But other than that, I personally did drive around before I left and picked up any loose trash or bags that may have escaped us during the police call and know the area was picked up pretty good. Mcubed posted pics as well after the main body of people had left, you can see that the area is pretty well cleaned up. As I said too, I will have more detailed pics tonight, once I get them I will post them for everyone to see.

Was going to go, but my kids got sick. 102 temps. We were at home taking care of them.

All in all it sounds like a good time was had by all. Tho I didn't go, my OLL did in the hands of my nephew and he told me he had a good time and my rifle performed well.

I hope that something a bit closer can also be arranged, but even if not, I plan on going to Area 52 next year if allowed. I may have to buy a Temperpedic mattress for my back, but I really want to do it.

                  area51 trip

I dont know if my last post made it through but I'm the new guy that had a total blast last weekend. (the guy whose best friend brought the lid) I think the last night/morning sitting in a circle and shooting the shi@ was the greatest, besides blowing stuff up. Thanks again for those that went back and took care of the shi! jobs. I thought we left the area pretty clean, oh, and Bill you were awesom!!. ps. Bill that light down range was the glowstick attached to the wheel, (found it next morning). Great meeting you all and look foreward to next time. Drunk skunk bring $20 next time.

You guys should have seen it..... SloGuy's minivan tearing across the playa that first night with a full mattress strapped to the top. It was both cool and funny all at the same time. ;-)

Yep. Jim drove out from Alameda on Friday and is out there now. He is taking pix of what he finds. Bill has some pix coming too. Hopefully once we all see the pix, we can all get a better idea of how bad (or how clean) the area truly was left.

It sounds like whatever was left out there was just an oversight by all of us, and I really appreciate everyone that was able to contribute to the gas fund so we can check the area out.

On another note.... I had a great time and everyone I met was great. It is good to have such a great group come out and I look forward to meeting you all again next year.

I noticed in one of the pics that someone brought a bus, which I imagine is a converted motor home. I'm also guessing it didn't get stuck in the "dry" lake bed since it would still be there. So, how was that avoided. Was there just a small area that was muddy and the few that got stuck were the unlucky ones.

Does anyone know if there are any RV rental places within a decent distance prior to going off road. If so, I think I might try to rent a trailer for next year as my roughing days are pretty much over and I was really spoiled by my MH.lol

They guy that owned that was from the area, I imagine he knew who to stay out of trouble. I don't think us city folk would be so luck. Then again it had rained shortly before the last trip which exacerbated conditions.

i know about getting spoiled, i bought a new tent i could stand up in and slept on a cot...not the ground.

                              missed my ac.

not sure if reno has rv rentals, but if you rent look at spending very big bucks for a week's worth of rv, might have to rent for a mo just to get one.
