well stormfeather did a great job, as as he said if you did not like this year do not stop by next year.

i did not shoot as much of the "toys" as others did but i also did not bother me.

i had fun...the main reason to get out there.
sure my ford died on the way in, worked ok on the return trip....but the whole deal was to have fun right?

as for "junk" left over some people should pack up some the night before, like when it is cooler?? i for one know my camp and ajoining area was clean on leaving. and i did see some junk left by others but the jeep was packed over load, or i would have taken it with me.

    next year will be better.

not sure if reno has rv rentals, but if you rent look at spending very big bucks for a week's worth of rv, might have to rent for a mo just to get one.
Packnrat, I know how expensive it is to rent as we put our motorhome in a rental place for awhile when we were not using it. We took it back out after 9-11 since people were afraid to go out and it began costing us money.

I figured if I got a few people to chip in, the costs would be fairly reasonable and I am real familiar with setting one up and operating all of the internals. Hey, I even know what it is like to have a black water tank open on oneself.

I spoke with Jim last night. He was on his way back from the site yesterday. As I understand it, the area is completely clean now. Jim and Ron (a local resident) spent about 3 hours cleaning up. They are supposed to send Bill and I pictures of what they found and then we can all see what the extent of the problem was. We will share some of the pix with everyone once we get them.

              Thank you again to all.

For planning purposes - the next trip - should take MAJOR note of this.

Knowing if we pack out, bury, or burn; and if we burn what are the regs for the area - are CRITICAL factors - that will change with each location.

I'd suggest print outs - with detailed info - be handed to each arriving vehicle next time.

Since this area falls within the National Conservation Area, open fire pits are NOT allowed on the playa. All fires must be contained (ie wood stove, ect) or MUST be elevated above the ground (ie burn barrel, metal fire ring, ect). Basically burn marks on the Playa are a big NO. All ash must be hauled out as well as laterine solid waste. Nothing can be buried in the playa. Also, the general rule up there is any event / gathering with over 20 folks requires a BLM permit.

Hunter - thanks for the additional info...

Although I actually wasn't talking about the specifics of the current shoot... but instead that - in the future - during the planning process of the next location (even if that ends up being the same one we all just went too)... we "should" as part of the process - publish links to the appropriate regs for the location we will be camping in... and - when folks arrive - hand them a printed copy of the regs; so each person knows what is expected of them.

The brochure I pulled out of the metal box near the wagon remains said that human waste could be buried away from water, and the ash should be spread out.

It does not make sense why you can just dig a hole and place the poo poo in it and cover it up.. With the ashes it would also make sense to just spread them. I really did not understand why people did not just go poo poo on the ground away from camp and then decided to leave the poo poo in the plastic bags that are non biogradable (Spelling). When it came time for me to take a dump, I walked for about 30 minutes away from camp in the middle of the night and took care of the issue. Same thing when I had to go #1.

So what happens to all the yote poo poo and all the other animals that live in the dessert? Do they go to a special area to poo poo?
