I hope you get this issue resolved. I would be pissed if I bought a firearm that was new and looked like it went thru a 3 gun match.

WTF have we become? A husband helps a wife choose a gun and other gun owners accuse him of a straw purchase? Almost every married guy I know can't even buy lunch with out his wife having a comment about it or flat out making the decision for him. That is why I am not married.

Any pics of this? Also, weather you post them here or not, you should make sure to get some good close up shots of the wear and tear BEFORE you take it back to them. Also, have you CONFIRMED same serial number on your paperwork? (as others in above posts have sugested) I didn't see where you answered that question.....or maybe I just missed it....c good

Also....IIRC Hoppes cleaner should not be used on these models. It's possible they shot it, then messed it up cleaning with Hoppes.

This is why you thoroughly inspect at the time of purchase.
And note the serial number of the one you have inspected and ask that this will be the exact one you will be getting.
At the time of pickup you confirm that is the same firearm by means of the serial number and check for any handling wear or usage if you are at a shop that has a range.

I'm not sure why everyone is giving the OP a hard time? I've purchased many guns and I don't usually inspect them thoroughly when I pick them up (although I think I will change that practice now). Also, as C Good stated, take pictures before you take it in or do anything with it.

Two;always inspect your purchase.Factories make mistakes too-and yes ,I've found a few that way.One time me and my FFL opened a box to find a totally different gun in the case from what the barcode label said.

And I can't see how the gun can rust in 15 days like you mentioned even after extensive use at their range.
                    and this.

Double check the model number and serial number on the gun (I don't know about S&W, but Ruger duplicates serial numbers across different models), and make sure that they corroborate the box and the DROS. If there are ANY discrepancies, go back to the gun shop immediately, because they either messed up the DROS, they mislabeled your gun when they put it in lockup, or they cheated you, and that needs to be corrected ASAP.

OP sorry to hear that this happened. I have owned this model before brandnew fired 150rds before selling it new owner thought it was brandnew and also seen a beatup used one about 700rds fired..

I actually compared them side-by-side the used one will show wear but nothing to what you mentioned because the owner cleaned it and took care of it. Interested to know the outcome of this because I am in the market to get one again. Hope it works out for you at the end!

GFOS has a range on site, and rentals for newbies to use. If there is damage, i wouldn't be surprised if they stuck the gun in the rental case for a bit.

Been in that store a couple of times, and both times were horrible. I refuse to go there, nor send any of my friends there.

Really? I have read every post up to this point and wouldn't have jumped to that conclusion. Although, a lot of calgunners on here are jackasses that like to jump to conclusions. Well, if you aren't a jackass, I believe somebody else reading your posts could conclude that you were definitely acting like one.

Why? Because the story smells. He refuses to post pics and he refuses to check the serial number even though both things were suggested by 3 or 4 different people.
