If you have ADT/Brinks a thief can just smash the panel to prevent the alert from being sent out.

I'm curious to know your source. If that's the case I'm wasting my money, if it's that simple to disable a alarm system. Everything is hooked up to the phone lines and if they get cut off it sends an automatic signal and I receive a phone call. It's a pain in the butt because I get false alarms sometimes, but all I have to do is look on my Galaxy and pull up the surveillance camera's.

sorry to hear about your safe, It doesnt matter if its bolted down or not. A determined theft will get anything. Time is their kryptonite. Like my dad tells me all the time if someone really wants your stuff they'll take it. All you Can do is just not make it easy for them.

Now come to think of it a decoy safe is not a bad idea. Put some concrete bricks inside leave it unbolted to the floor with bolts and tools besides it to make it appear the owner hasn't got time for it yet. Thieves leave with a decoy spending all time and energy on it. To enhance the after effect add GPS tracker/beacon inside with a red led light blinking. A letter explaining you know where's the thieves are increases your laugh factor by 10X.

As far as alarms, I was a sales rep for one of the bigger companies (Monitronics who I think has since been bought out by ADT) and can tell you that the BS about their centers getting a "no signal signal" is just part of the pitch. If you didn't pay for the wireless, all someone has to do is cut the phone line before entering. That being said, the common burglar is definitely deterred by an alarm. Why? Because there's always the family two doors over too cheap to get one.

I feel bad for OP but seemed there was a lot of loose talk about the safe and it's where abouts. Should've been more hush about it but then again, I wasn't there so who knows the story. How do you know the suspected person was on the hunt for your safe for a 1 yr?

This person was after my safe for nearly a year.

What I'm not understanding is, if you knew this before hand - why didn't you store your guns elsewhere and fill your safe with concrete blocks???

That is why you talk to your neighbors.
You don't have to have dinner jusy be on speaking terms.
If you see anything suspicious give me a call or walk over and say something or just make your presence felt like with a camera or camcorder.
Or do nothing and get robbed.

He said when the burglars found out his safe might be at his friends house, two days later his friends house got broken into. Maybe it's just me, but I'd feel responsible if I was the OP and one of my friends had been affected like that. Especially if that friend had a family that could have been hurt.
