A girlfriend of my daughter is a hotel maid...you don't want to hear what she has "walked" in on.

Its very common for guest to "pretend" not to hear the knock. Not saying that is what happened here...just saying its normal.

It must work sometimes if it's that common.

Oh dear God, that is one of the best stories I've ever read! Love the happy ending also.

This might be a funny story, but it's also a story about terrible abuse of power. If our story-teller had not been so smart as to meet the police in the lobby, so friendly as to (give up his 5th amendment rights) and explain to the younger officers what was going on and so lucky to have the older sergeant show up - he very may have ended up dead.

It is not illegal to have a gun in a motel, and when you rent a motel room it counts as your "domicile" and police need a warrant or exigent circumstances to enter. Yet here these two cops were, ready to get keys and enter. This is bad stuff. LEO need to be held accountable for that.

Cool story, nice ending, fact or fiction? Who knows how people will react when they see a gun, not on a shooting range.

Of the police sergeants I've bumped into, they have seemed more level headed than their underlings.

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Cool story, bro. But it makes you wonder. What would happen if the cops came to your house and found your ammo stash? How do you think that would get written up in the newspaper the next day. I have way more than 1K rounds. Just wondering.

No kidding. I start to get under 1k per caliber and I'm placing an $800 order with ATG.

And to think that there are people who would legislate a 1k overall limit.
They pass that and I'm dumping the .22 and moving to .50 Beowulf

Great story....except someone needs to kick that guy in the butt for voluntarily letting the COPs into his room in the first place.
