Default "FML-47" AK Pistols

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...18#post4678418

Thanks for putting this party together Alex! Your place is just the right size and everything needed to build was present. The food was delicious like always and the Park tank was awesome, with the help of the weather this time too!

I observed that lots of people helped anyone with questions and builders were very friendly! Thats always good. I would definitely attend again!

I cheated and started ahead of the build day.

basically I took a couple of hours before the build day to:
bend tapco flats,
trim top rails,
rivet the trunnions,
rivet trigger guards
and semi-fit magazines.

Once I got to the party I:
welded the rails(Alex's welder is right on for a 3 second hold),
heat-treated,
degreased,
blasted,
parked,
pressed barrels
and assembled.

These were once complete:
MD 90 Kit, matching numbers, unfired
Romy G Kit, mismatched numbers, unfired

After being sent to Pat aka Restoreit, they came back as 9.5" pistol kits.
I named them FML-47
After the park tank, I used CLP this time instead of WD-40/walmart lube, thanks H&S Battalion Armory LOL!
I cut down AMD-65 brakes, idea copied from other pistols I've seen.
Wood for #1 isnt done yet, thinking if I should go with RIT red dye or a darker charcoal looking stain, shes the one going to get neo chromed.

The park tank did a beautiful job on my receivers, hope you can tell from the pics and Im glad my laser engraved marks were deep enough to stay after the finish.
Hopefully I can get one of these guys neo-chromed and then I can post in the pimp guns thread!

Awesome build party guys, fun seeing familiar faces and making new friends; see you next time!

Just for fun LOL, maybe I'll shoot it in this configuration...
$12 railed top cover, $28 3-9x40mm scope... I was using this scope on my marlin 925 but she got an upgrade

Very nice builds. I really like what you did to the AMD muzzle brake. How did you get the receivers engraved? Very professional looking job.

Stained wood for #1
I started off by boiling water and RIT Scarlet dye, dropped the upper hand guard in and pulled it out after a minute, it turned pink!

I figured to let the lower sit in the boiling water/dye as well, but only for about a minute. This made the wood a little more porous. So after about ten minutes I took both upper and lower and put them in a cup of non-diluted dye and let them sit in there for about 5 minutes. Took them out and let them air dry outside in the sun, crystals formed from the dye and I had to wipe them off and sand since the hot water raised some grain. I wiped on some more dye and let dry again for about 2 hours in hot sun, I did this about 4 times and then let it dry for about a day. Next day I sprayed the pieces with Polyurethane. About 4 almost heavy coats. With some dry time in between.

Came out like this:

I finally got to test fire one of these babies today.
I chose to fire #02.

I was able to hit the 100 yard reactive steel targets with no problems.
I placed a target at 50 yards and if you sight in just right you can be accurate with this thing. I had no FTF/FTE but I did run into a problem.

The Problem:
I'm using the original FCG from Romania or whatever was thrown in with this kit. The problem is that if you hold the trigger down upon firing, the disconnecter doesn't hold the hammer down like its supposed to and instead lets it ride the bolt home. NO IT WOULDNT FIRE MORE THAN ONE, the hammer just rides forward on the rear of the bolt. So I took a look at it and changed out the disconnecter for another foreign disconnecter and still had same problem.

AT LAST: TAPCO IS GOOD FOR SOMETHING
Looked at all of my Tacpo G2 FCGs, saw that the disconnector would actually engage the hammer and release it to the trigger hook when releasing the trigger. I'll be keeping the G2 FCG in my pistol for now, since my rifles are going back to the presses and the grinders.

Did something else since I have foreign trigger parts just laying around I decided to make a spacer our of some old pieces so now there isnt any slack in the canyon where the disconnecter is and it is held in place and passes a function test.

Oh is that a new Alto Saxophone?

NOPE, ITS AN FML-47!!
Gator makes this gig bag for the Alto Sax and it happens to fit my 9.5 AK pistol with a 0/20 sled in it perfectly. I have never seen a bag with as much padding as this.

Glad I could inspire someone with the Cut UTG quad rail idea.
Absolutely love the green laser on your pistol (adds to wish list).
Very nice Nino.

Flats, => Tapco, best Tapcos I have built. I guess I had to build and fugg up three to know what needed to be done to alleviate the problems it had. I ended up redemilling and rebuilding the first 3 AK rifles I built.

#1 is back, dressed like Optimus Prime.
The whole thing was supposed to get done, let's just leave it at that.
It actually matches Phuong's Blurple BMW

I'll have to touch up certain areas that I fugged when I was fitting everything back together.

This one still uses a foreign FCG (duh) with my modification so the disconnecter doesn't jump around. There is absolutely NO HAMMER FOLLOW. I also put extended axis pins in this because the Tapco flat sucks and didn't get a very tight 90 degree bend.

I'm guessing this one will be just as smooth as #2!

Gee, nice builds.

Only I think that #1 needs something white, be very patriotic if it was red, white and blue.

Maybe my next build will be a pistol, they sure look nice.

Thanks for sharing!
