Mythbusters recently tried to bust a myth that required high accuracy using paintballs for the "small scale" test. Even with the gun in a fixture and a consistent air charge, the paintballs had a 2ft grouping at 20ft.

Don't know what to say about that, but with my own paintball guns (Autococker, Spyder) the grouping was easily less than a foot at 20ft without question

It was nice that 4 of the participants/contestant are from Kali. This makes me a little more proud. But Kali still sucks though because of Gun Control.

Jamie and Jay - congrats on making it through Episode 2! And it looks like your military training really helped you on that Elimination Challenge, Jamie. So, did you empty that last drum magazine just for funnin?

Jamie, did you break 180 on one of your reloads for the tommy? I think Jay did it during revolver practice also. Just a couple things I noticed from our Cali folks on the show.

Maggie stepped it up big time. I guess all her sponsors weren't wrong . Keep blasting Maggie, I hope you go far.

Kyle, hope we see a shotgun episode for you soon.

For those interested in such things, both Maggie and Athena are going to the World Championships in Greece representing the USA...as is Chris Tilley

Also going, from last season, are J.J. and Blake

I like the photography - well done. It's interesting to see the flex of the different guns when firing - I don't think I ever realized how much a gun can flex.

So far the drama has been minimal, I'm thinking that will change...

I'm pretty sure I didn't, but since I'm still in Afghanistan I have not seen either one of the episodes, so I can't tell you for sure.

BUT ANYWAY - thanks for the continued support!

...I absolutely hate to make excuses for poor shooting. 99% of the time, the weakest link with any weapon system is the shooter.

That being said - I hated that Colt Police Positive!!! We each had our own seperate pistols for the challenge, and every single one of them shot differently, and NONE of them shot straight. These were not reproduction pistols - these pistols were actually from the 1920's and they were all worn out! ...I think mine must have been recovered from the Titanic!

The first team challenge with the billiard balls - I think I just choked. I was nervous as hell. The Prohibition Challenge - as lame as it sounds, I have to blame that gun.

I ran up, loaded my pistol (having dodged all paintballs), lined up on the first bottle, squeezed the trigger. I saw my shot go left. Now - with a right-handed shooter it's a common trigger pull error to "push" your shot to the left. I assumed the error was ME. So for the 2nd target, I lined up my sights the same, concentrated on a good trigger pull, and the shot still went left. Then I realized that it was the gun - not me. So for the last shot, I compensated to the right, and fired on the 3rd target, and I hit a little high of the explosive bullseye.

If you look at the Colt Police Positive, the front sight is a tall half-moon blade, the rear sight is a V-shaped groove cut into the top of the receiver. So for a proper sight alignment, you have to sink the front sight abnormally low. Everything about it feels wrong. This is what accounts for my last shot being too high...

BUT - Excuses are like a-holes, and I (rightfully) went to the elinimation, and wrecked shop with the Thompson!!!

I swear - I don't really suck this bad! Just keep watching!!!!

I wonder why they chose to use vintage revolvers, but for the 1911 challenge in episode 1,they used a modern Colt Series80 pistol?

Did other competitors remark how their pistols were shooting poorly?

The 1911 in Episode-1 was brand new. I'm not very familiar with Colts so I don't know the model.

All of us complained A LOT about those Police Positives. I don't know if it was coincidence, or if they did it to make us happy, but I believe that every other weapon we used after the Police Positive was brand new straight out of the box.
