Edit Not to throw gasoline on a fire that's already out, but does anybody have a link to a case where an FFL was prosecuted criminally for failing to transfer a firearm to the lawful owner?

I've got one only, related to an N.F.A dealer failing to transfer weapons paid for in advance, and then hitting the buyer up for more cash because of the increase in value of the weapons while the transfers didn't go through... and it's a civil case.

Considering how many cases you hear about with problem transfers, if it is a criminal matter to fail to transfer a firearm, the cases have to be on record somewhere.

And if anybody wants to see how the world works wrt deals going bad after payment is made, google name Dana Reed and see what happens in the real world.

As for the FFL in question. The buyers will decide. I am sure he most certainly lost business because of this deal, shady or otherwise.

what can i say it's a PAWN shop! They get paid by ripping people off! That's the business of Pawn. Personally I would never use a pawn shop for to transfer or buy a gun. I'm glad it all worked out in the end.
There are some good FFL shops in Riverside and I will be using them.
I personally have had great service with Bullseye sports.

I don't understand, do you know how Pawn shops work? While it may appear to you that they are in the business of 'ripping people off' they actually provide a service to people who can actually follow the procedure. They enter into contracts with people and are upfront about their offer. Its up to the customer to take it or leave it. You should actually be angry at the people who don't read the rules or accept low offers for their merchandise.

I think you may be mistaken because of the show called 'Pawn Stars'. Its not the job of the pawn shop to tell you what you have or its value. KNOW THE VALUE OF WHAT YOUR SELLING/PAWNING. Only ignorant people on this subject think what you think sir.

I am in no way affiliated with any pawn shop or the shop in question other than I shop at BSP in the past and had good service from Chris and Dan. I will shop there but its most def 'buyer beware' on my part.

Antihero: yes i know how paw shops work, and yes i have alot of experience with the inner workings of paw shops if you must know. And yes they do provide a service, and for the most part not all the time they do take advantage of people. That's the pawn business, get things for as cheap as possible and then sell them or get people into contracts with crazy interests rates. i call it ripping people off. You are entitled to your own opinion as am i, and since i have first hand experience working in one a while back I'm going off my experience.

LOL, during this whole drama, when the "San Francisco FFL" kept being referenced as very helpful and on top of things, I kept thinking "no way can they be talking about high bridge arms . . . helpful? On the ball? YEAH RIGHT!" . . . and now it makes sense that the FFL was actually City Arms . . . in Pacifica.

One thing I don't understand is why the guy needs to DROS his own gun again, he already owns it and it's registered in his name. All he did was mail it to an FFL, why can't they mail it back to him?

Why does someone with 30 guns need to wait 10 days for number 31? same reason, don't try to make sense of it

Because it was on that receiving FFL's books, and he is NOT a gunsmith.

Hence, there are only 5 legal ways for it to come off his books:

1) Xfer to his private book (ie, he takes it as his own, puts it on his personal book. Ya, that's right, another "joy" of being an FFL is you now have to have a bound book of all your personal firearms.)
2) xfer on a 4473
3) xfer to another FFL
4) reported stolen
5) reported destroyed by the police or other agency

He can NOT simply ship it back to the owner. Same thing would be true of firearms turned over to an FFL for sale on consignment.

Boy, you are WAY out of your lane. Pull your neck back into the high-paced world of retail loss prevention, because you couldn't do the things Ron has done, much less come out of it with the compassion, honor, and basic love for his fellow man that Ron has. He has been there and done that, and while that doesn't make him right, it does require a gentleman to listen to what he has to say.

While everyone around you listened and then disagreed, you ran your knob holster and it brought you to a place you never should have been: questioning the moral superiority of your betters.

I have known Ron personally for over fifteen years, and it is my HONOR to call him brother. I can count on one hand the number of people I would kill or die for, and he is first on that list. As he well knows, I have some reservations about law enforcement, but don't you ever question his integrity again.

Well this sucks to hear that the FFL is Bright Spot. I have using them for years as my receiving FFL with zero issues. In fact I have a cz 75 compact arriving there tomorrow. This is one of the reasons I sell firearms face to face private party. If the buyer flakes I just go home. If I need to retrieve the gun I just drive over to the FFL. . Mark
