I've always had decent service at FV. They're relatively helpful. They obviously don't work on commission so they're not gonna go out of their way for you but they're definitely ok by me and I've been there at least a couple dozen times. Love it now that they're company is under new ownership and they're gearing more towards the black rifle/self defense group. Just wish they would do OLL, more AR parts, and out of state FFL transfers.

Why I hate Turners

I went to the Turner's in Chino Hills the other day and I can't believe what I heard from one of the sales person recommending to purchase this from a gun show to a customer?
For one of those AR-15 223 with BB they were selling.
I went and educated the sales rep not to be promoting this product because it makes it an AW.
With the way it works, if the magnet was placed on top of the BB. Makes it a functional Mag Release and is attached to the rifle making it an AW.
That's why it is a no-no.

I will never do a PPT at Chino Hills - Turners! I purchased a Glock 20 from a Calgunner and we were both yelled at.
Because I was paying the seller cash right after we did the PPT. The manager could have talked with us like adults and told us in a profesional manner to do cash transaction outside the store. We would have understood right there and then. But to yell at both of us in front of other customers and to tell us to take it somewhere else was totally out of control. I wrote the corp office. Now the bastard calls me by my last name... Mr.----. And I'm a repeat customer. I never buy anything from them anymore.Last edited by Mstnpete; 06-16-2010, 4:24 PM.sigpicComment

Reminds me of when I went to the Post Office that I frequent and when I walked in, to my surprise, I went straight to the front of the line. While I was waiting for my turn with a clerk, a rush of people lined up behind me. Then I hear "Number 94." And I looked at the number clock and said to myself, "WTF?" as I looked behind me and the lady get me the "I'm so sorry" look with a shrug so as I mumbled profanities to myself, I stormed and grabbed a ticket, and lined up in the back of the line.
Now that I think about it, I kick myself for not walking straight up to the clerk. While we're here arguing about the latest high tech running shoes, there's some Kenyan out there running barefoot. Guess who's gonna win the marathon?Comment

Turner's refused to do a PPT I was involved in because I did not have my proof of residence at the time of DROS. But when I bought a gun from them they checked my proof of residence when I picked up my gun and did not need it at time of DROS. Same clerk too. Ridiculous.I provide opinions...

Maybe someone should make a why turners suck website

I actually had a good experience at the Turners in Fountain Valley a few weeks ago.Comment

Turners lost a sale to me today. Went in to the Fountain Valley store and waited to be helped. No big deal! Started to look at Glocks and the counter person helping me starts referring to me as BOSS! I dont know but I feel its rude to refer to people as Boss, Partner, Chief, surgeon etc. Its confrontational plus just plain rude. I dont know why he had a weird attitude but I left, Said thank you and bought my gun somewhere else today. I may or may not of paid a little more, but I will pay a little more for great service.Comment

Signal Hill?No problems with San Marcos. They have always helped me out and have told the truth with no BSing. Signal Hill is a complete different story. Spoke with the manager who talked out his *****. Will I go to a Turners again? Yes. However, I will never go to the Signal Hill location.
when I was younger (like 18-19, whenever it was that I got my first car) I disassembled an arisaka bolt off a consignment rifle. A certain senior employee (not gonna say manager because I don't know) told me off.
...not because I disassembled a gun without asking, but because I shamed him for being able to field strip, examine, and answer my own questions without breathing.
There was an older guy there, he was floored. We had a laugh, I bought ammo.

Says the smartass who works at Turners. What I find most interesting is that most people rarely ever contact the store manager of the store they have a problem with. In the age of internet, it is much easier to come home and complain about bad service on a chat site instead of talking to the store manager and correcting the problem. I have personally had absolutely horrid service at a few local shops and ranges, and after talking to the manager or owner, the service somehow improved! Imagine if we all did that!
After having a piss poor experience at Turners, I spoke with a manager (who did nothing) and e-mailed the vice president of operations (who didn't even respond).
That's precisely the reason why I'm done with Turners for good and will continue to steer everybody I talk to elsewhere.Comment

Earlier this year, I called Turner's in san bernardino to ask if they could do a PPT friday evening. They said "sure, come on down ", the buyer was driving up from san diego and I was travelling east from west covina. Once we both arrived, about 1 hour before closing time, the counter salesman informed me that they were "short staffed" since one of the salesman had gone home early and unfortunately they could not do the PPT!!. The store was not busy, their were only a couple of customers present looking at firearms. The salesman then directed us to a shooting range around the corner that might do the PPT, but unfortunately was already closed. I asked to speak to the manager, but was told that he had already gone home and would be useless since he would only convey the same information. The salesman was really rude and said it takes " about 1 hour" to do the paperwork, and since it was getting close to closing he would never finish it in time. We Just left and went elsewhere the following week.
At the West Covina store, I was also attempting to do a PPT with another buyer, The Hk handgun was being sold with out mags, the salesman said he could not do it because all pistols have to have mag present to transfer, I offered to bring a mag later in the week, but he refused and was very adamant about not doing the PPT. I can understand their policy, I am sure it is because the buyer has to demonstrate how to handle and load the firearm before taking possession, what bothered me was that salesman was not willing to accommodate us , we ended up in glendale and did the PPT without the mag.
I have dealt with Turner's for over 20 years, and have spent thousands of dollars there, I understand they have a new owner and have their corporate policies, but it is obvious that if they are to remain competitive with other gun stores, they have to be more "customer friendly" and try to accommodate our needs in a professional and courteous manner.Last edited by drdanno84; 06-17-2010, 9:26 AM.Comment

I just got done with my 3rd transfer at this store, only issue I had was on a Tuesday, never go on a Tuesday as that is the day the truck comes in and they could care less about customers, but other then that I had no problems at all!I go to Turner's in San Bernardino about once a week. I have cash and am ready to buy when I see something I like, but if I do not buy they are nice to me just the same. If it's slow the salesmen will tease me with the new this or that. I wonder if the other stores are as good.
The employees make the store, not the other way around.
San Bernardino store.
I walk in with exactly what I want in mind. I am aware that different manufacturers have similar products and I can use those to choose the right brand.
I go up to the counter and the salesman is HUGE, gray hair, and asks what I want. I point out one firearm. He takes it out, hands it to me, and asks for a credit card and my handgun safety card. I ask how this firearm compares to another brand.
He turns to another salesman and and asks him to help me browse since I am not serious.
YOU SCHMUCK!
I was serious, I bought a different model from salesman #2.
What do I need to do to convince you guys I am serious when I walk in? I have spent thousands in your store!
So next time FF asks if he can help me my answer will be "You are not capable of helping anyone." and I'll wait for another salesman.
Makes me wish they got commission to stay motivated.sigpic

Turners San Marcos lost me today. The dilweed behind the counter was helping me look up a certain Savage .17HMR when another customer starts crying about the dearth of reloading books at that location. Dilweed drops me like a bad habit and starts helping the crybaby customer. When he's done, he starts helping another customer.
I'm not the type to make a scene. You treat me like I don't matter, I'll gladly reciprocate.
I don't think that "Dilweed" is a bad guy (indeed, he certainly seemed to know guns), but he's freakin' clueless with respect to customer service.Comment
