Why I hate Turners

Went to Turners here in Redondo today, bought another handgun, got treated nicely.

I've been in there numerous times over the years and have zero complaints. When I go to a gun store, I pretty much know what I want, so it makes it pretty easy.

Nope, wait a minute. Today the guy who was dealing with me asked if I was in the KOREAN war when I mentioned the rattly 1911 I was issued. I know I look kinda oldish, but jeez guys, I was only five or six when Korea was going on. He then guessed at RVN to get it right. I think I embarrassed him a little bit.

I just bought a gun at the orange location today. It went well. They must have sold 5 guns in the half hour I was there. I sometimes get tempted to just buy a gun online and could save 20 or 50 bucks, but the way I see it, if we dont support the actual stores, then soon there will be nowhere to go and browse for a gun and put them in your hands. I am sure california will stop allowing internet gun purchases, it seems like they find a new way to pick on guns every year. If you cant buy ammo online starting next year, then what is the next "logical" step.
I have to say that sometimes it is the customer who is a know it all and a jerk. It seems like being around the gun counter sets off a lot of insecurities and suddenly everyone thinks everyone else is an idiot. I understand, the original complaint is the bad info the customer received over the phone. Mistakes happen, lighten up fella.
I also think we should give some grace to potential new gun owners. They could become allies and support our sport, unless of course you make them feel like an *****hole for not knowing everything about guns before they come to check em out in the stores. We should be teaching others about the joy of guns so we can all go have fun killing water bottles, old ceramics projects and paper.

Went to Turner's in Corona today. It was on a whim (dangerous!) Got a used Mossberg 12ga for $100. Touched and felt up lots of other guns but didn't feel the love. They were kind and I had no issue with them at all.

I have been going to Turners since it used to be Andrews in Long Beach. They have their ups and downs. I've bought quite a few guns from them over the years. I'd have to agree with the post on establishing a good rapport and getting to know a salesman or two. I always dealt with Ted at Norwalk for years but they have nearly changed all personnel in recent years. I went in to buy an Escort semi 12 gauge tactical today. They finally came in. The price was 499 but I talked to Rich a few times in the last month and noted that they did not have them in stock when they were advertised at 439. He let me have it at the old sale price with no problem. Sometimes you have to show your face a few times and try to keep a straight face at all the FUD that flies around. In my opinion they have at least improved in the guns that they stock.

Went to T&A armory today and every thing went smoothly. Its amazing how that can work.

well, just to balance things out, I had two bad experiences with a single gun at t&a. when we went to do a PPT, the seller handed me some ammo that was included with the sale and I was rudely told to get out the store with the ammo. OK, it is your rule -- no probelm, but how we were to know? It is not on the door or anything. Besides, you don't need to be rude. When I came back to get it, I was told that I needed to show three months of utility bills as my secondary address confirmation (I showed one month when I dropped off the gun). Fortunately, the guy let me take the gun if I promised to fax back the other two months. Also, I aksed if they would DROS a sledded vector and they said no. I would still go back there if the occaision called for it, but it would not be my first choice.

As for Turner's, I have had great experiences at some stores and the most horrible experience at another -- both in the same day. I will nevver set foot in Turner's norwalk again after how I was treated there. But, I go to signal hill quite a bit, I have always been treated well -- don't like a couple of the guys that much so I wait for the ones that I know will treat me well.

Turners Kearny Mesa ROCKs PPTed my OLL no problems at all and was there 5 hours ago and the PPT went smoth no problems at all

went to Turners in West Covina this weekend and did a ppt for 2 rifles and it went smooth not asingle problem

I went for the first time to Turners in Orange and was quite satisfied(for the most part). My GF was looking for her first handgun and they were quite helpful. Other people came into the store but she still got priority since it was her first gun and she was first there(i'm sure other people were upset as we looked at quite a bit and they only let one gun out of each case as a time). The only part that irked me was the only form of proof of residence they accepted was the lease agreement. All the bills are in my name, but her drivers license had her address on it which wasn't sufficient.

Overall, I was happy with them though. They were super friendly and their prices are super cheap. Also, for south orange county they had the best selection with prices i could match online.

Aren't we touchy? The first part was a joke about them hitting on her, the second part is true. Men naturally gravitate toward women.

Never had any problems with gun purchases, etc. at San Diego store. Good people. Hope they get it turned around at other shops.

Turners San Marcos and Chino Hills have always given me good results and friendly service. The Corona store is something else. The front desk clerical folks are fine, but the azzholes in the back act like God's gift to themselves. I don't even wipe my boots at the curb in Corona any more.

What I find most interesting is that most people rarely ever contact the store manager of the store they have a problem with. In the age of internet, it is much easier to come home and complain about bad service on a chat site instead of talking to the store manager and correcting the problem. I have personally had absolutely horrid service at a few local shops and ranges, and after talking to the manager or owner, the service somehow improved! Imagine if we all did that!

Most of my experiences with various Turner's stores have been positive whether it was to buy, sell, trade new and used firearms from them or PPTs. The one negative I do have was on a PPT as West Covina Turner's where they damaged a SW3913. Looked great when I originally inspected but found a nick on the heel spur of it when I picked it up 10days later.

Complained to manager and emailed corporate, but they stated not their fault. They said they couldn't have damaged it because their back gun storage rooms are all padded/carpeted so it couldn't have been dropped and gotten damaged. Couldn't prove that they did it and didn't get to take pics prior to leaving it with them. As for locking up a firearm so they can't mess with it while on wait, I was told I couldn't do that because it must be accessible at all times during waiting period just in case authorities comes to check.
