CA DROS Delay
Collapse

You can do a handgun or semi-auto DROS every 30 days.
Nothing is dependent on pickup date.
If you do a 2nd DROS on something that got delayed after the 30 days, that eats up your DROS for another 30 days.
If you do a 2nd DROS BEFORE the 30 days lapses from the first DROS, the previous DROS will cause the next DROS to get rejected because you are trying to do 2 DROS within 30 days so you will have to wait 30 days from the rejected DROS before you can do a 3rd DROS to pickup the first item.
The system has no way to know that you are doing the 2nd DROS on the same item so it has no exemption code for that.
If the FFL releases on undetermined, your 30 day count is back to the previous DROS before the 30 days ran out.Randall Rausch

SO update on my delay. This purchase was a PPT for the record. Original pick up date was 5/31. Approval and release finally given 6/9.
I received a letter in the mail from the DOJ on 6/11 (letter dated 5/27( saying "delayed because the department has identified state and/or federal records matching you identifying info or a stolen firearm record"
I researched this and no such record exists. I have no criminal record, Possess a CCW and tax stamp for an SBR and a USMC Veteran.
Something fishy here....Comment

Currently waiting on two delays as well. also was never informed of either delay until I arrived at the shops 1 week apart from each other the first I was supposed to pick up June 4th the second was June 11. It is inconvenient but as far as I know nothing I can do just wait and hope they get approved one shop will release on undetermined but not the other.Comment

^^^CORRECT^^^
Where that one says Xavier Basura. They will likely now say Robert Bonta, It's same old form letter they have always used.
And it doesn't actually mean that they found any discrepancy in records.
Same thing happens every time their is a rush in buying firearms. It runs in spells.Comment

Update, PPT for M1A on May 20 was delayed but came thru on June 16. Still waiting on new Ruger Wrangler purchase which was done on May 8. Passed the 40 day period already but the dealer said they have to wait for a type of release letter, I forget what was called and could will take another 2-3 weeks. And yes, I got that similar CA DOJ discrepancy letter too for my new purchase and PPT in May.Last edited by ejhc11; 06-21-2022, 10:18 PM.Comment

I hereby honorably pass the title of deelayed onto you . I thought 36-7 days was bad . I see a new post- 30 day trend going on . And it will continue to increase in day increments . Who will stop them ? Who can stop them ? This is not good . Actually the GS has to contact the doj to get the number it does not take 2 - 3 weeks it takes a phone call and the agent will give numbers to all undetermined cases past 30 days for that shopm that's how it was explained to me.Update, PPT for M1A on May 20 was delayed but came thru on June 16.
