CA DROS Delay

Still delayed another 2 hour wait time with DOJ to tell me nothing but if I am still delayed by day 30 and then it goes to a undetermined. To go get a livescan and if that ones back good to call them so they can look into it but it could take some time. I asked how much time. She said she didn’t know.

If more and more FFLs start to chicken out releasing undetermined, DOJ could start delaying everyone.

Still delayed and can still pass a background check for ammo. letter from DOJ is going to be delivered today according to the scan from the post office

Bought 3 firearms since the beginning of the year without delay. On my fourth one and it's delayed. The last time this happened was at the start of the pandemic I had a 17 day delay. This is some BS! I'm hoping one of the organizations I pay money to is suing them for this.

I did not, I can ask. It came on day 6 of 10 of the waiting period. Does delayed mean denied? Have you heard of this happening before?

Did the FFL call you or did you just go in and it was cleared? I am in the same boat. On day 7 I got the call that it was "delayed" and now I'm at day 14. It's hard to call the FFL they are always busy but don't want to make the 1.5 hr drive if it isn't cleared

I’ve got a stag receiver and glock 17 in delay at one FFL.

Jut got a text from another FFL about a delay on 2 consignment guns (hk usp elite and baby browning).

I even went to turners and bought ammo today with no issues at all on background check. The guy at turners did say they are experiencing massive delays and even random denials for returning buyers which is strange.

What is going seriously? Or this only me?

MOST INCOMPETENT STATE AGENCY

ETA ..... Hopefully you did proper DUE DILIGENCE, and chose to only do business with FFLs that RELEASE ON UNDETERMINED STATUS.

Just purchased a Remington 870 and a Winchester Model 12 from two different Turner's Outdoorsman on the same day (picked up both on the same day after the worst 240 hours of my life...) with no problems. Could be they were classic pump shotguns (both with 28" barrels) and not new centerfire rifles or handguns.

DROS "Delayed" on day 7 of 10 day waiting period???

Recent Handgun Purchases:
1. 12/11/2018 - DROS "Approved" @ Vandenberg Rod & Gun Club
2. 12/22/2021 - DROS "Approved" @ Turner's Santa Maria
3. 02/05/2022 - DROS "Approved" @ Turner's Santa Maria
4. 03/11/2022 - DROS "Approved" @ Turner's Santa Maria
5. 04/15/2022 - DROS "Delayed" @ Turner's Santa Maria

NO change in my eligibility since last DROS "Approved" on 03/11/2022.

O.K. I have read multiple threads and scores of posts on DROS "Delayed" and "Undetermined", but have yet to see a post that answers these questions:

1. Once a DROS has been "Delayed" and then transitions to "Undetermined", can a purchaser just turn around and re-DROS the same firearm at the same FFL (yes, I know I'll have to pay additional DROS fees, and I understand Turner's will not release to "Undetermined" status)?

2. Does the "Undetermined" status stick with you after the 30 days until adjudicated or can I simply DROS either the same handgun or another handgun and expect a different result (e.g. DROS "Approved"). In other words is the DROS "undetermined" status a one time event and not tied to future purchases?

I too believe this is yet another ploy the California Government is using to limit firearms sales to eligible citizens (conspiracy theorists rejoice!).
